We confess that we had a 2 for 1 on main meals, so a quick supper was on the cards - both seabass and lamb superbly cooked and so we added a bottle of good red wine. Lots of children in, so it was noisy, but I can't imagine anyone was planning a business meeting at 7.30pm on a Saturday....? We did spot one couple hoping for a 'romantic' meal but they saw the funny side of having to shout across the table. Service got slower [well, non-existent] as it got busier - and I MEAN busy! Still. we like Azzurro a lot; the staff are warm & friendly and the menu [choice and preparation] are way above average. We might start deliberately missing trains at Waterloo so's we can go there............

To start they lost our booking - had to wait 20 minutes past our booking for a table. No apology forthcoming, then had to try and hunt down waiters to take our order. Starters were ok, but massive (an entire avocado and a beef tomato for a tricolore salad), and mains were just terrible. One friend had the risotto and couldn't eat a mouthful, my calzone was tasteless and the canneloni was unpleasant. Two other mains were ok (but not exceptional). We got 3 of the meals refunded but it spoilt what should have been a nice night out with friends.

...but, be warned, as this restaurant is under railway arches it can be very draughty and cold. It took me three goes to find a table where we would not freeze - but it was, agreed, a very cold day. It was also half-term and early evening, so there were tables full of young and quite noisy children. Once we had found a suitable location, the service and food was excellent - quite the best risotto I have had in a London restaurant and my wife's lasagne was delicious. Prices are most reasonable for central London. We will return...on a warmer day and during school term-time!

Buzzy (though also quite noisy) place, most conveniently placed for the Royal Festival Hall and National Theatre, with acceptable food of the standard italian variety and good, friendly service.

Azzurro is very convenient for a meal before going to the Old Vic or the South Bank; the service is quick and efficient, the food very pleasant, and it is excellent value. Inevitably the rumble of trains is a little distracting and I didn't care for the artwork, but these are minor points.

A convenient lunchtime location if you're near Waterloo station. It wasn't particularly busy on a Saturday lunchtime but being with a group of girlfriends it didn't matter as we created our own ambience! The food was average and the plates were not warmed but I quite enjoyed my pasta dish with chicken, spring onions, sundried tomatoes and cream. There is a reasonable menu - mainly pasta and pizza- and small selection of wines. The service was fair but some of the staff were a little surly. I enjoyed the occasion as it was a girlie catch up but I certainly wouldn't rush back to Azzurro.

Thankfully I have a 2-4-1 voucher for this meal because the service and the food really didn't warrant the full price. A starter was ordered which was not like the description and tasted pretty awful so was sent back practically untouched. No-one apologised for this and staff didn't seem very engaged in what they were doing. The main courses were ok but really not worth the full price. We both had the steak and chips which I have had at the London Bridge branch and it was lovely but it was such a let down at the waterloo branch. Sorry folks but I just couldn't recommend. The wine and atmosphere were good but that just can't make up for everything else.

First time to this restaurant - I was looking for somewhere near Waterloo and this was perfect - definately on my list to visit again. Only annoying element was that they did not have my top table booking and it was very busy being a Friday night but fortunately they had a spare table
