   Hour and a half past our reservation time until we were seated. Another hour until they started cooking. No one cared, it was awful.

   We made a reservation for 7:45, didn’t get seated until an hour later, and then took until 9:20 to get a chef to our table. Given any circumstances, this is outrageous, but we also had 4 young kids with us. By the end of dinner, they could barely keep their eyes open. For a $600 bill…the very least expectation should be a reservation time honored. Completely obnoxious. Their pay machine also wrongly calculated a 20% tip and automatically added 35%. It then took us close to 30 minutes to have the issue corrected.

   We were seated as soon as we arrived. The service was outstanding. We got our drink order in soon after we sat down and did not wait long until the chef arrived to cook. Chris was our Chef, he was great. He had a good sense of humor and the food was excellent.

   I’ve been going to Benihana for many years and this was the worst experience. I had a reservation and when I checked in I was told they were 30 minutes behind. I asked to be seated with my two kids in the sushi room. I was using my birthday coupon and didn’t realize I was ordering a promotional deal. I get that it says no promotional deals on the coupon but I wish my server mentioned that the coupon wouldn’t be valid with the meal I ordered. I would of had no problem ordering something else. My main course was missing the shrimp appetizer and the fried rice came 30 minutes after our meal. I had to take it to go since my kids were getting restless. Both meals came with ice cream but the server only brought one order. I also had to ask for a to go container several times. I explained my experience with the manager and she seemed hesitant to do anything on the spot and said she would extend my birthday coupon. I was pleased that she gave me some discount to compensate this poor experience. I was hesitant to leave a tip but I know people have bad days. Unfortunately I left with a bad experience and now don’t have a desire to go back which makes me sad since this has been a long standing tradition to celebrate birthdays at Benihana.
