   We were celebrating my sister’s birthday and we had reservations for 5:30pm. we got seated exactly at 5:30pm and finally got the cook(Rick) at 6:30pm, he was great. He was funny, and food was seasoned nicely. Rick saved the night with his humor and good food. The waiter never came back for a long time to see if we need water for just to check with us. He didn’t ask if we would like dessert then told us only had ice cream. I said you do t have banana tempura , he had to check . We order two of them and only got 2 spoons and there were 5 of us!! The bill took forever to get. We were there for 3hours!! Unacceptable!!! How disappointing. We went there for New Year’s Eve and had a great time and there for 1.5hours.

   We decided to sit in the booths by the bar instead of the Teppan Communal Seating. It was three of us and it was 4:45 p.m. on 2/16/25. We ordered three Taste of Benihana ($39.00 each). Our waitress, Odalis was very nice and kind, but very short staffed and over worked. We basically had to flag her down to refill our water glasses. She was too busy preparing drinks at the bar for the Teppan tables and did not have time to service our table. It also took her forever to bring our check at the end of our meal. Our appetizer and food arrived and all was fine with the exception of the chicken fried rice. It tasted bland and was obviously missing ingredients. It actually tasted like plain brown rice. Not sure what happened with the rice, but that is not what we are used to at Benihana. We mentioned the rice issue to Odalis and she brought us chicken fried rice cooked at one of the Teppan tables and it tasted as it should. We also ordered a to go item and when we got home it was the same bland rice missing ingredients. Not sure what happened this time, but the service needs to improve and perhaps review the fried rice basics with the new staff. We are and have always been huge Benihana supporters, however, we do expect excellent service and delicious food.

   Good but Valentines day was especially busy. Even with a reservation we were asked to wait 90 minutes before sitting down at the table

   Terrible server. There were 8 total people in the restaurant and she kept disappearing and forgetting what she was supposed to be getting.

   Our last experience at the Benihana in coral gables was fantastic and the chef we had was amazing and probably the best one yet and the manager Jennifer was awesome as always and made our visit fantastic as usual !!!

   We waiting two hours to be served even with reservations . We came in at 745 and left at 1150. Very poor service with no sense of customer service

   We had a family dinner at Benihana and our group was large enough to reserve an entire hibachi table. High marks for food quality and we enjoyed the hibachi show. Drinks were a little on the expensive side and pours were a bit skimpy. Everyone had fun!

    Benihana used to be our favorite place for hibachi until last night. Our food was coated in so much butter, the service was slow and our chef didn’t do anything exciting for our two toddlers that we brought for the first time. We traveled down from Tampa because we used to lived in coral gables and thought it would be a great dinner place for our family and we were very disappointed. The cost was astronomical too. We won’t be back.
