1st issue was we made a reservation for 1815. It was extremely busy in the lobby with nowhere to sit. We arrived around 1805, and were not called to sit until almost 1900. After sitting and giving drink orders we waited until about 1920 to take food orders. We still had not received any drinks at that point. At 1930 we finally received our drink orders. Shortly after we received the appetizers we ordered, but were not supplied anything but chopsticks to use. At 1940 the chef came over to start cooking. While he was cooking we finally received the soup portion of the appetizers, but still no silverware. This was after the chef had already served the fried rice along with the shrimp appetizers. We then finally received forks. The chef finished cooking around 2000. We never received the salads we ordered. About 20 min later we had to flag down the server to get our check so we could pay and leave. We were out the door around 2030. As far as the price goes I think they are well over priced. I go to a local hibachi in NE Philly and usually spend around $120, including tip for the same meal for 4 people. I only had myself and my 2 kids, 9 & 6, and it was $225 including tip. Both kids did order adult meals, but they also always order the adult meals when we do hibachi. I will not be returning to this chain again after this poor experience. I have have done a few stand-alone hibachi restaurants now, and found out that private restaurants provide a much better hibachi experience.

I made reservations for 8 foot a birthday dinner. Our family was celebrating two family members’ birthdays. We had to wait 30 minutes to be served because they were short staffed. Also, another couple was seated at our table. It wasn’t the intimate experience we’re accustomed to at Benihanas. The cooking presentation seemed rushed. It was not a special outing for our family celebration.

You can't go wrong with Benihana. It's good food and a nice family treat. The portions are smaller and the prices are waaaaay higher than ever before. Went there on a Monday aft 5 and all night there was only ONE waiter for all of the tables! (The did have 2 chefs, though). The bar area was unacceptable. It's apparent that they are short-staffed and have been for some time. Our waiter was very nice and continued to apologize all evening. It took over 25 minutes just to pay our tab. I realize the waited was busy but maybe the manager could have stepped in and process the payments for the 4 of us waiting to pay our tabs.

Had a 630 reservation, we never even got sat or greeted. Waited an hour past our reservation time to find out their bartender walked out and they had 4 servers. A whole lobby filled with people waiting to celebrate their birthday, like myself. They never turned off their reservation books or informed anyone of what was going on. A number of people walked out after being seated and never served. Managers were no where to be found nor were helping the staff. Some wonderful girl was brave enough to hop back behind the bar to help even though she wasnt a bartender and had a great spirit about the situation.

I had a reservation for 7:15 and unfortunately did not get sat until 8:00. They were clearly very overbooked and understaffed. The food was delicious as always and our sever was very nice, but we waited very long to even be given our menus.

With the exception of our very talented, friendly, and engaging chef, my family’s recent experience at Benihana in Plymouth Meeting was just awful. To start, we had a 5 pm reservation to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. When we arrived, there was no one at the front concierge desk, and no one even manning the nearby bar to ask. Two people said they had been sitting at the bar with no bartender anywhere to be seen for some time. When staff members finally materialized from the back, they stood together talking, seemingly oblivious to the increasing numbers of families and couples waiting to be seated. As time dragged on and the staff continued their own conversations, everyone else waiting to be seated left in frustration. When we were finally seated, the table chef asked if it was anyone’s birthday at our table and our daughter politely raised her hand. We told him she specifically wanted to come here for her birthday. The chef mentioned something special would be in store for the birthday girl. Well, the meal came and went — including a lobster roll appetizer special the waiter said would cost between $10 and $15 dollars ( I was charged $27). After the chef was finished cooking and left, not a single waiter ever came back to our table. My daughter’s main dish—a soup—never arrived, and we had to physically go and find a waiter—twice—to ask for it. When we later flagged down an employee for boxes for leftovers, they were brought with the bill. Others with birthdays have gotten special treatment at Benihana’s; not our daughter. The staff here just didn’t seem to give a damn about customers—until, that is, the delivery of the bill. Focused on a tip, the woman (manager?) suddenly became very attentive. If the place was packed, there’d be a reason for such appalling service. But it was only moderately full—and now we know why.

I haven’t be here in several years. I was celebrating my birthday. I can’t understand why a table that came after us got started before us? The chef was good and the food was good as well. The service was a bit funky. My husband had a good time as he had never been.

If I could give this location zero stars I would. For context I did book a reservation on Friday February 14th - so I was already prepared to be patient and expect some delays when it came to being seated, serviced, and eating but this location on this specific night was just 100% out of control, understaffed, and unprepared for there SCHEDULED RESERVATIONS. Our reservation was for 9:00pm. we areived at 8:50pm. When we walked in the check-in/waiting area was over packed, loud, unorganized, and chaotic. It was so many people that it took 20 minutes to check in (Our check-in time was 9:10pm) Shortly after checking in the manager began to call reservations by name to be seated. By this time it is 9:30pm and our name was not called - after asking the manager why not we were told that they were seating "8:00pm reservations" We than sat and waited til a little after 10:00pm to eventually be called and seated. The host would sit 2-3 tables at a time. We sat at the table for 20 minutes before we received our menus. Then it took 10 more minutes before someone a lady came out and took our orders for our drinks and appetizers. So this is around 10:30pm. Before leaving she states they only have 2 people working at the bar and that is causing all of the delay in the restaurant... We didnt receive our drinks (not our appetizers or main course ordered) until 11:17pm. Meanwhile during all of this 1/3 tables that was seated at the same time as us already had there drinks, alcoholic drinks, appetizers, main course, and there chef was finishing up his show) My partner and I decided to leave ruining our night on Valentines Day. When we were leaving at 11:20pm they were seating 10:00pm reservations. They are scheduled to close at 11:00pm. This location needs to fire everyone starting at the top going down and create a fresh start to ensure proper management, reservations, and customer service. They were obviously overbooked and the managers were not on the same page! DONT COME HERE!!!!!

Had a 5:45 reservation. We were seated in the back near the drafty exit door. At 6:30 we had not received anything, not even water. Complained to management and we received water. By 6:45 we hadn’t received anything else. Complained to management who apologized. We left.

Although it was not crowded when we got there, we still waited approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes to get our food. This was unacceptable to my cranky, eight-year-old who was starving. Also not great for the adults.
