   We went for lunch and it was a very good value. There were 3 tables and we had our own as a party of 4. The chef, Omar, was wonderful and really played to my son (3 YO) and made the experience enjoyable. I felt like the portions were a little small even for lunch. They also had a lounge deal which they did not communicate was only for the lounge and was not accessible as the lounge wasn't open or we were not given the option to sit at the lounge versus the floor.

   I like the Benihana experience and I have been to the Wheeling locaion several rimes and the Las Vegas location over 20 times. This last time at the Wheeling location the three of us had to wait over 30 minutes to be seated, even with a reservation. Our waitress was very good, but the chef barely said a word beyond asking how people wanted their steaks cooked. He was very good at the cooking utensils and food juggling. The food was good as always. It’s not a cheap dinner, and part of the cost is the experience. The good news is that these are easy fixes.

   Our visit did not live up to the brand. The food was ok, but when the best part of the filet and lobster meal is the fried rice, something is not right. The soup was great, the ginger sauce salad was not. We were dining at 6:00pm and they were out of stock of several Japanese beers, which was a disappointment. All in all, had this been a run of the mill Japanese restaurant I would have left a kinder review. Benihana’s reputation deserves way better.

    Service was painfully slow. We were the only ones at our table and it took over 30 minutes for the food to even start being prepared. When I showed an email for buy one get one fried rice O was told this expired even though nowhere in the email was there an expiration date. Overall disappointing visit.
