Bistro du Midi's cuisine features French Cuisine inspired by Coastal New England influences. Our wine list represents the true soul of a bistro wine list. In a classic French bistro, wine is very much a part of every meal. As such, we offer a variety of experiences and wines at a tremendous value in a range of prices. Our elegant yet relaxed environment overlooks Boston's beautiful Public Garden with a spectacular view. We were happily surprised by this elegant Boylston Street restaurant on the edge of the Boston Public Garden. The first floor is a bright and bustling setting for a bar and tables with a full dinner menu plus a section called "Bistro Classics," which offers traditional French bistro fare at accessible prices. The second floor, accessible by stairs or a particularly nice elevator is a higher-end area, quieter, nicely adorned with modern art, and thoughtfully lit with lovely Edison-lighted flickering chandeliers overhead and a discreet table-top fixture. The room is plush and attractive, aided by very comfortable settees and padded dining chairs. Excellent, professional waitstaff service was apparent throughout the dining area, and in our case, Jeff was especially welcoming, friendly, and attentive. We have lately noted that this level of attention is sorely lacking these days, and here it became a highlight of our visit. Thanks, Jeff! The menu is studded with many interesting entrees. We opted for fresh halibut served with oyster mushrooms and cauliflower, all bathed a glossy and sublley delicious shrimp and curry sauce; also a savory Crescent Farm duck au vin breast confit (the menu had it as a leg confit, which it definitely wasn't) floating in a melange of white beans, carrots, and burgundy jus. Both were ideally prepared. There is a deep and carefully selected wine list offering several by-the-glass options in addition to the extensive library of many half and full bottles. Delicious, well-crafted made-to-order cocktails are also available. In all, this is a serious and attractive French cuisine-inspired restaurant that tries very hard to please. In our case, it admirably succeeded. Merci, Bistro du Midi!

What a great restaurant! I was looking for place for a birthing day dinner during a great weekend in Boston and I love French food and I found the perfect spot. Bistro du Midi is in such a great location, right on Boylston Street across from the Commons. The ambiance and staff are outstanding and the food was incredible. I had the selection of oysters, the Foie Gras Torchon and the Halibut. All were perfection. Two of my companions had the Greater Omaha Filet Mignon and both said it was the best they have ever had. And you have to order the chocolate soufflé for desert!! And the best Grey Goose Martini and a great wine list as well!!

We had a good meal of steak, octopus and a burger. My burger was a tad undercooked (asked for medium rare). The food came out quick. The service was a good. We sat downstairs and it was too cold near the large front windows. Excellent drinks.

While the service was excellent and the meal was good, for the prices we paid, the meal was disappointing. The wine was not very good and the bread was far below the quality of breads at French restaurants we have been to.

We had a wonderful evening in a beautiful setting. With piano music playing in the background, we were served a delicious meal. The beet gnocchi was fabulous and the halibut was perfectly prepared. We will be back!
