   My reservation was for 8:30 pm we didn’t get seated until 9:15,we waited for someone to come over and offer us drinks which wasn’t until 9:45pm followed by bread for the table at 10pm we ordered an appetizer waiting for our entree’s and it came out completely burnt after an 30 minute wait so I sent them back.Now the entree’s came out by 11pm yes utterly ridiculous I sat that long because I worked all day and just wanted to eat I was starving only for my plate to come out looking greasy,the breading was falling off the food and the scallops looked browned as if they were burnt as well they didn’t offer no condiments for the shrimp or fish and I sent the whole meal back needless to say I ate when I got home!.

   I booked a reservation for Valentines Day, for 7:45. My wife and I drove over an hour to try out this restaurant. Show up on time and there was like 5-6 people standing outside and around 10-15 people in the entry. All waiting to get a table for their reservations ranging from 6:30 to 7:30 all people were decently upset that they all know they wont get a table for V-day. I am excited to retry this restaurant but right now I am not interested in returning.

   Valentine’s Day dinner disaster. It appears they recently expanded the dining area, but I don’t believe they expanded the kitchen yet, which led to them not being able to feed everybody sitting in the new dining area. after an hour and 45 minutes and only having received our burnt appetizer shrimp and crab egg rolls, and a lot of apologies from the staff for the delays in the kitchen. The server, Michael was nice and did everything in his power to keep the customers happy, but ultimately it was a lot of customers leaving before receiving their food arrived due to the extreme delays. We have enjoyed our experience at blue crab in the past, but this night was an absolute disaster. I hope they make the changes needed to win back their customers.

   We waited about 20 minutes for our appetizer, which is not too bad. However, over and hour after the appetizer, our main course had not come out. Apparently, they just expanded the dining room but not the kitchen, and they could not keep up. The calamari appetizer was excellent, and our server Michael did everything he could do. Unfortunately, we had to ask for the check for the appetizer and cancelled the rest of the meal.

   Food was excellent for all members of our party, especially the Cioppino. Service was on the slow side but it was Valentine’s Day so somewhat understandable. Our party was seated in the new dining area, which was sparse in decor and the LED lighting was a bit harsh. Overall it was a very enjoyable evening.

   We dined at Blue Crab Grill on a Friday evening specifically because of the scheduled band playing from 8 to 10 pm. We wanted to see the newly expanded parts of the restaurant and hear some music with and after our dinner. We have dined at Blue Crab many times and we always enjoy the food. However on this visit we didn't get to actually eat any food until 50 minutes after we had been seated. Our waiter seemed to be overwhelmed and it took so long to just get a glass of wine and our starters ( a bowl of soup and oysters Rockefeller ) our entrees arrived about 20 minutes after that. All of the food was prepared well and was delicious. But, it was the worst service we have ever experienced at the Blue Crab Grill. I mentioned this to the hostess as she passed by our table and I asked her for napkins and silverware after our food arrived and we had no utensils. Ultimately we enjoyed our dinner when it finally came, we also enjoyed the music, but the new space at Blue Crab needs more staff to make its run more efficiently .

   Fantastic Food, excellent fresh daily seafood specials, and the service has always been wonderful and friendly! It's our favorite, Go To place to eat out in Newark! Highly recommend it!!!
