   This was our first time dining here and I let them know ahead of time it was my husband’s birthday. I had hoped for at least a booth but instead we were seated in one of the bench seating styles where you have other people near you. I guess I should have said something since the place was pretty empty but I did not want to make waves. Our server was excellent and gave advice on the menu. The ambience was decent and no loud music. My husband ordered lobster risotto and it was very good. I ordered filet mignon with mashed potato and asparagus. The steak was cooked perfect and mashed potatoes good but very small portion and it was over 51.00 for the meal. A little high for what you get. I was also disappointed that no small complimentary desert was offered for my husband birthday. Usually that is a norm at most restaurants. We did order the peanut butter pie. It was 14.00 and good but a bit high in my opinion. Overall it has good food and service was excellent. I would probably go back.

   Service was great, kind, and informative about the food. The food at first came out cold, but quickly resolved. The value was decent.

   The fish and chips were very good. The truffle fries were good but needed more truffle flavor. The fish was indeed crispy and flavorful. The broccoli was so-so- perhaps overcooked, but, it was not the main part of my meal. I had the three homemade ice creams for dessert - Belgium chocolate, Tahitian vanilla, and lemon blueberry. The chocolate and vanilla were creamy and tasty. The lemon blueberry had the lemon flavor taking over. I missed tasting any blueberry although the ice cream was blue. The in-house made sangria was delicious! Service was professional and friendly.

   Four of us dined on 03/15/25. Three ordered the chef’s special. The shepherd’s pie was burnt on the bottom and very dry. The liver and onions were very fatty and gristly. The salmon and corned beef and cabbage was very good. I guess 2 out of 4 is a grade of 50%.

   We went to the Braised Onion because the name was intriguing and eir tagline was enticing: “comfort food with attitude.” My partner has attitude, so we took a chance on a place new to us just a little off of our usual beaten path. What a find. The staff treated us like royalty and the food choices, oh my! We began by sharing a couple of orders of fried green tomatoes that were scrumptious, then our table of six was served a variety of nicely prepared dishes from braised onion soup to lobster risotto, braised short ribs, meatloaf, shrimp and grits. Well, you get the idea: “comfort food with attitude.” The prep and presentation were spot on and Princess Di’s bread pudding was a delicious finale. What a fabulous place for my partner’s birthday celebration!

   Braised Onion is always a go to for us. We were slightly disappointed our favorite waiter, Alex was not available but Alexis was efficient and friendly. Nothing they could do but there was a surprising number of noisy children under two present. This said, the Short Rib Stroganoff was excellent and the grouper special was great. Coconut cream pie is always our favorite way to end dinner!

   The server and food was excellent. Husband said his redfish was the best he’s had, my crab cakes were loaded with crab with an outstanding remoulade sauce

   We were in town for an event at the arts center and chose The Braised Onion from its reviews. It certainly matched the good reviews. We were seated quickly and service was excellent. The quality, temperature and variety of food was wonderful. Would return again.

    Unexpected pleasure ! Great experience! Joan our waitress was phenomenal- she knew the menu and made great recommendations I had the short rib - amazing ! One of the best I’ve ever had . My wife has a berry salad and enjoyed it and our freind the chicken capresse and loved it. BUT do not leave without trying the bread pudding - as English I’m not convinced of the princess Dianna story but the pudding was amazing.
