There was an extremely loud table in the middle of the restaurant with one lady shouting across the table repeatedly. This table was disturb all of the other guests in the restaurant yet the staff did nothing to try to quiet them down. This significantly detracted from our experience.

As always, Cafe Zola was fantastic - they did a great job making it festive for New Year's Eve and while they had a slightly modified menu, were able to make old favorites as well, which we appreciated. I especially loved the seasonal drinks that were very well thought out. Thanks for helping us ring in the new year!

Our waitress was great- very busy but very pleasant. It took a while to get our food ( it was NYE and busy). There were 6 of us. Three were very happy with their entree. Two thought it was OK and one was unhappy ( Ahi tuna with an odd oily/ sweet sauce). I really enjoyed my Maize and Blu martini. We’re Ann Arborites, so we’ll be back. I’d re-order my chicken skewers and pear salad anytime!

Good was meh, nothing especially tasty or savory. I had the fish en papillote, my partner the pasta with sausage and we shared the crab cake app. Service was very perfunctory. Minimally welcoming. Prices quite high. And how does the owner get away with dressing her wait staff like strippers? While we understand restaurants are especially stressed on holiday evenings, our reservation was for 6, way before the rush. The place has declined from its previous outstanding performance.

We enjoyed our post-MIchigan Theater dinner on New Year's evening! We had the fish en papillote and the red snapper - excellent! It was a festive, fun and delicious dinner. Thank you!

We walked in and did not get greeted for at least 5 minutes after the bartender noticed there was quite a crowd gathering at the host stand. The bartender came over looking rather annoyed and rudely asked everyone if anyone had reservations, which we did. After we were seated, it took another 15 minutes until our server greeted us. Overall service was extremely slow with us spending 2 hours in the restaurant for what we expected would be a quick lunch date for my daughter’s 18th birthday. I had noted on the reservation that this was a birthday lunch and had requested a special birthday dessert if one was available but there was no mention of any birthday wishes from the staff let alone any possible birthday dessert. It appeared that the restaurant was short staffed as I only saw 2 servers for the entire dining room with several tables that were not bussed for nearly a hour.

I have been to Zola's downtown many times. Unfortunately, it is not what it used to be. My frittata was flat with very tiny pieces of sweet potatoes. I remember it as being fluffy with lots of much larger pieces of sweet potatoes. Coffee was lukewarm and not very tasty. The waiter was great but food was aa disappointment.

I love Zola but it is so loud and people packed into the space. Wish they would fix both of those annoyances but then again others may like the energy.
