   We have loved coming to Carmines when in town.The service was ok, the food this time seemed heavy and had alot of sauce.

   When we got to the restaurant, it started out a bit rough. Our party was late to the reservation which we take account for but the hostess there was very rude explaining why many other groups were being called while our group waited almost an hour to be called. We asked for the manager and upon us walking to the manager to speak with her, the hostess spoke under her breathe saying "yeah go talk to her" while my husband heard while standing in front of the check in stand by the door. As someone who worked in customer service for 8+ years and work as a journalist for the tristate area, I know first hand first impressions is everything and if Carmines want their customers to have a good first impression, a hostess like that isn't the way. Yes, the holidays are stressful, but it's not what you say, it's how you say it. And if someone feels overwhelmed or overstimulated, please step off the floor and take a moment because kindness goes a long way. However, the kind female manager heard us and showed caring and understanding hospitality. She explained in a nice manner the reason behind the wait. In less than 5 minutes, we were seated. Our waiter was amazing. His energy and service was beyond and he made up for the rough experience early on. Throughout the night, our food was great, quality was amazing and the manager who assisted us earlier came back and checked in, even offered us a desert since the dinner was a special one for my mother who is a survivor of open heart surgery. Overall, our experience was pretty good. Thank you to the staff at carmines who take pride in their jobs and hospitality to their customers.

   Arrived early and was told we could sit at the bar. Had a mango martini- superb. We were called for our table earlier than our reservation, and sat at a table that was out of the way of restaurant traffic. Everyone was friendly the hostess, the bartender and wait staff. We had the special- salmon stuffed with spinach,scallops and crab meat-amazing! It was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend them and when in NYC again, they will be on my list of places to eat.

   Seated promptly upon arrival. Was able to add a guest the day before. Food was excellent. Noise level was excellent. A individual in our party has a sensitivity to loud noise. She did not complain they seated us in a smaller area. Thanks again! See you soon!

   I love Carmines. The food is portioned for sharing which makes the value good. A meat entree can be shared with 2 or maybe 3, the pasta easily with 4. The Upper West Side location tends to be less busy but we were there on Christmas so it was packed! Even though packed the service was very good. And all the food was tasty. We shared baked clams and garlic bread smothered in delicious cheese for appetizers. For seven, we had veal and chicken parmigiana, cheese ravioli, penne in vodka sauce and shrimp with spaghetti. We had leftovers to bring home. We also shared a half portion of Titanic for dessert (nicknamed Tugboat) which was a big delicious ice cream Sundae. A great end to a delicious Christmas dinner.

   Wonderful holiday meal. Food was great, penne with vodka was really good along with the Caesar salad. Definitely recommend.

    Carmines was recommended for us for Christmas lunch and we are so grateful. The food was delicious and plentiful. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was wonderful. We had a fantastic day and I would highly recommend Carmines to anyone.
