Le restaurant Cassarino situé dans le quartier historique de Federal Hill s'est imposé comme étant l'un des meilleurs restaurants italiens de Rhode Island depuis 1988. I have been to Cassarinos pretty frequently , and its always been very good . The food is excellent, the service is always very good . Ambience, etc.... However, went last night with my kids and waitress came to the table, took the order , was very nice , but as we are ordering the Veal parm , she subtly adds " Did you want the ***** Cheese on that ? I forge the name of the cheese , but it was like a mozzarella - came in a scoopful on top of the veal and it was just cold cheese . Didn't think anything of it and all three of us said sure ...we got the meal , it was excellent.. I didnt care of the cheese they added and didn't eat it .... The issue here is that I got the check and it was $6 per meal extra for that scoop of cheese .. So I paid an extra $18 that I was unaware of .. Had I known it was extra , no way we would have ordered it . I get it that I said OK < but this kind of upcharge / upsell is a crappy thing. Reminds me of a snake oil salesman . I just don't expect this at a place like Cassarinos . Its just horrible form and for me -- I eat there maybe 4-5 times a year , you're going to lose a good customer over this $6 upsell that you didn't tell me was going to cost extra ??? Its used car salesman stuff and just lacks good taste . On top of all that -- they don't itemize it on the check - they just adjust the cost of the veal from 28.95 to 34.95 . Means they are hiding it , and I'm sure this does not come from the waiter/waitresses. This comes from higher levels that are trying to nickel and dime their customers.... Its crazy -- again - its bad form and just not sure if they think their customers aren't aware ?? But i'm sure i'm not the only customer that sees what they are doing ....

Had an excellent dining experience this afternoon. Service was top notch and my food choice of Chicken Marsala was cooked to perfection with enough to take home for tomorrow’s lunch. Everything arrived fresh and promptly. My wine suggestion was super delicious and complicated my meal perfectly! Thank you.

Food didn’t have very much flavor very bland, shrimp scampi and clams casino. Way overpriced for portion size. Not sure we will be back. Entertainment was excellent. Seemed everyone was having a good time.

I wanted to box my own leftovers, the waitress didn’t even let me finish talking and took my food back to the kitchen. I do not like my leftovers going back in the kitchen to be boxed. They should Let the customers choose their preference.

The restaurant, menu, food, wait staff, and staff were outstanding! It was a great dining experience and we will definitely be back!

Great dinner again! Steak night was great, prepared well. Crème Brûlée had a little too much sugar topping so it was soft instead of crisp, but the flavor was good. Service was excellent.

I had the salmon over risotto... it was cooked perfectly! Our waitress was a pro. a great choice to have dinner before heading to the PC Friars game.
