Chai Wu is a contemporary Chinese restaurant on the fifth floor of Harrods, the world famous luxury department store in Knightsbridge, London.

For the ultimate feast, it doesn’t get much better than Chai Wu’s perfectly crispy Beijing duck, carved at your table by a chef and served with a choice of fresh pancakes or mantou buns. Vegetarians are also well catered for, with a dedicated menu featuring dishes such as vegetarian dumplings topped with goji berries, vegetable spring rolls and braised tofu with vegetarian oyster sauce.

Chai Wu not only offers delicious Modern Chinese cuisine, a superb wine list and striking interiors, but it also harbours an incredible private dining room and semi private dining room that is tailor-made for all types of events, both private and corporate. The main private dining room can seat up to 20 guests and the semi private room can hosts up to 8 guests on a round table for intimate dining events.

I’ve been dining at Chai Wu for many years, and I’ve always enjoyed the quality of the meat. However, I’ve noticed that recently, the quality is not as good as before. I hope this can be looked into

We had lunch and the choices we made were just superb. My husband especially loved the Prawn Pancake Roll. I loved the mix of Dim Sum and the Tempura Prawns. Everything was pipping hot and delicious. Will definitely be back.

Chai Wu used to be my favourite restaurant in Harrods but my experience this time was ultimately disappointing. We booked the table for 6:15 PM, there were many empty tables when we arrived and the staff took us to a small table in the middle: there is a screen in the middle with two small tables next to each other. The staff didn’t take care of our coats and there is no space or extra seat to put the coats. The couple next to us were very loud. It’s like sharing a table with loud strangers. We asked to change table before we ordered and our request was rejected as we were told other tables were booked. But I don’t see what couldn’t change to other empty table as we haven’t ordered. We requested again and they said they would make changes if the guest didn’t arrive in time. At the end, the staff didn’t come back to us so we had very unpleasant dinner with loud couple next to us and we heard every single word they said with no privacy. And the entire time there were empty tables for 2 available. I have never experienced such unpleasant dinner. Will never visit chai wu again!

I waited several minutes for the hostess to arrive to seat me, only to have her answer the phone and spend more time explaining reservation policies and trying to help the person on the phone. The first rule of customer service is to not make an in person wait while you answer the phone. I waited about 15 minutes in total to be seated. Terrible first impression. Sushi was good but the experience from the start ruined it.

7:15 reservations, sat for 1/2 hour with no service, then rushed to order because the kitchen and bar were closing. Couldn’t order more than one drink because the bar closed before our food came out. Duck came out then waited 20 minutes for the pancake and bao buns came out to actually eat Very disappointing, especially so at these prices.
