Vous prendrez vos repas en admirant la vue sur les paysages depuis les hautes fenêtres. Les murs et le plafond en acajou confèrent à ce restaurant une ambiance authentique de steakhouse inégalée dans le monde de la restauration du New Jersey. Parmi ses détails uniques, il possède quatre cheminées modernes, premières de leur genre, et un mur d'eau incurvé débordant de sérénité dans la bien-nommée Rain Room (salle de la pluie). Vous pourrez déguster 7 tranches de bœuf maturé à sec de la première qualité, ou savourer des huîtres et un colossal crabe bleu dans le bar à aliments crus. Les places du lounge sont attribuées sur la base du premier arrivé, premier servi. Les réservations de soirées peuvent se faire aux banquettes voûtées jusqu'à 12 personnes. Overall experience was good but still a bit to be desired. Dont mind spending $90 on 4 Manhattans, but don't want to be called 'hon' by the bartendress - if you are charging higher-end prices you should treat patrons a bit classier. Still feel like the polyurethane covered tables without clothes are a bit underwhelming - more like Red Lobster feel.

The negatives: Despite a reservation, we had to wait 15-20min for a table. Not tragic, but why have a reservation if we have to wait anyway. The popovers were overdone and too hard on the outside. Not crispy, downright hard. Our steaks were prepared backwards. Mine was to be more rare than my wife's, but they came opposite. (Not just switched plates, since we ordered different size filet mignons, and the doneness tags matched our orders, but the meat didn't match the tags). They weren't very warm either. (I suspect my medium rare was sitting long enough to become well done and cold) Bread pudding was also overdone and rubber. Tables were much closer together than we recalled in the past, and all were occupied, so the noise level was very high. We don't like having to shout to have a conversation, especially when there are tables close on either side and everyone hears each other's conversation. Not to mention the waiters stand between tables with their butts against our table when talking to the neighbors.
Positives (there are some): Once we switched our plates, the meat was tasty, tender and of good quality. Sides (salad and potatoes au gratin) were very good. The cheesecake was also very good. The menu has a good selection of steak and seafood, with a nice variety of salads, sides and starters. The waiter was very attentive, professional and pleasant. The overall look and feel of the place is nice, just too noisy due to packing so many people in. We were celebrating my wife's birthday, and they made efforts to make her feel welcome and special.
It has been a while since we were there, but this was one of our favorite restaurants for some years. Never disappointed, and we've taken larger parties (12) there. Pricey, but was always outstanding, so we felt it well worth the splurge once in a while. This visit was very disappointing. For about $100 a person, without cocktails or wine, we expect much better. Not sure we'll be back.

Char did not disappoint. Steak was perfectly cooked. Apps were delicious as were our sides. The service was excellent as well. A little pricey but well worth it.

This was our first time at Char, we would definitely go again. The steaks were cooked perfectly, truly enjoyable.

We go to a Char every couple of months. I always get the filet and lobster and love their famous popovers! The specialty cocktails and wine selection are all excellent and the service is exceptional. My husband enjoys the raw bar and Ribeye.
