Located on the affluent Great Neck corridor in Virginia Beach, just three miles from the Oceanfront, Coastal Grill is as famous for what isn't on the menu as for what actually is. Food was great, it did take longer than it should have to get our appetizer, fried calamari, then dinner took too long to be served as well.

Awesome!!! If you ain’t going it’s a bad mistake! Everything about this place is absolutely TOP notch!! Best in Hampton Roads! Bar none! The wife and I and another local couple have been going to different restaurants in the area once a month for about 7 years from Norfolk to Chesapeake to Virginia Beach and up to Yorktown and we have never did a repeat visit. None have really been worthy. We judge them hard. But this one is by far the best one we’ve been to out and after our first visit a couple weeks ago we visited again with the family. The DID NOT disappoint!!! Once again impressed us to no end. You gotta go!!!!!

The service and ambiance are fantastic. Our waitress was attentive and thoughtful. Bronzino and Trout were both excellent, calamari was overdone. Crème brûlée was a delightful finish, overall would absolutely go again!

Hubby and I enjoyed a lovely Valentine’s dinner. We split a hot vinegar Bibb salad as an appetizer. Hubby had miso crispy salmon and I had the branzino. (The branzino at Coastal is the best in the area!) for dessert we split a chocolate mouse cake. Totally yum! Our server Joanne was bright and attentive. We like Coastal a lot, but its lovely openness also makes it a bit noisy. Oh, well. Thanks for a great evening!
