   Having eaten here several times we keep giving it a go in the hope that it returns to how it was 12 months ago. Not sure what has changed but the staff seem to be in need of a manager. We will not be visiting again. The Sunday lunch - £23 for 2 courses Cauliflower and potato soup - like water with zero taste it was so bland and probably the easiest meal to make. Main beef roast = beef was the only redeeming factor as it was cut and cooked well. The roast potatoes were so hard you couldn't cut them, the veg was disgusting. A small amount of what I think was cauliflower cheese had all broken down into mush with a burnt top, then it was literally a dish of leeks which were also overcooked. When we first went in there was a small child running around in front of the bar and around the tables and no one said a thing. Probably because the staff act like that too. The staff were too busy laughing and joking with the kitchen staff and shouting and swearing having fun to bother asking us how the meal was. This is not what I would expect from somewhere that your bill is around £30 each with drinks. Not a cheap meal for a family of 4. Because it used to be so good and a lovely dining experience we kept returning to try to get that back but this will be our last time.

   Lovely set menu lunch. Lots of choice for everyone. Delicious starter, Moroccan pork followed by a great vegetarian cauliflower, stilton and leek pie with mash. This was so full of flavour. Desert a zingy lemon posset with berries & shortbread. All of our party enjoyed every course. Service was friendly and efficient. Would highly recommend. Set menu price is such good value.

   Service and friendliness were lovely. Food overall was very good although sweets were disappointing. (Base of cheesecake was very hard and pastry in apple toffee pie was soft and apples seemingly raw…. although perhaps they were meant to be!) Despite this we would visit again.

   We had the set Sunday two course lunch. The roast beef was nice and pink, served with a huge selection of different vegetables, with roasties and yorkshire pudding. Food was good, nice atmosphere, will come again.

   Very busy so service was slow to get our order taken and to wait for the first course but when food arrived it was very good. Wait between courses was not excessive.

   1 oyster cut into 3 no taste £10 ! rip out chateaubriand steak wanted medium rare barely blushed over cooked fish chips brown and chewy sent back returned the same

    First class food and service as usual. We always love coming to Crown and Sandys, always a treat
