Not having one near us, we were finally able to plan a trip to Atlanta to take her. The experience could not have been better. From the second we walked in, they made my mom's visit special. Got a great table with a great waitress. She was attentive and very pleasant. The manager came by twice to make sure we were having a good time. He even gave my mom a special glass for the occasion. The food was delicious, especially the pork appetizer. The bacon scallops were perfectly cooked. The surf and turf was delicious. Highlight of the meal though, was watching my mom have her first Mai Tai. But the dinner was just the beginning. After we were done, we were invited to have a tour of the restaurant. Something we found out they offer on Saturdays. Mr Rider, our tour guide, started off with a history of Trafee Vic, both the man and the restaurant. Then he took us around the restaurant showing us the original artwork by Trafer Vic himself. Tables where presidents and celebrities sat out. Where movie scenes had been filmed. So thank you to everyone: hostess, waitress, bartender, cook, manager, and Mr Rider for giving my mom an amazing experience, 55 years in the making.More infoTrader Vic'sPrice: Expensive• Polynesian• Downtown•4.6

My hack for Poor Calvin's is to just order the specials. Whatever special entree or appetizer is available, GET IT! Last night was a surf and turf with a filet mignon and lobster. OMG! It was served over this large basil leaf. So every time you cut into the filet you got a fresh subtle basil essence amongst all the other delicious flavors that were in play. Absolutely genius. The special appetizer were shrimp wontons that were packed with several pieces of whole shrimp. They did not skimp or cut corners. On the side was this delicious and refreshing cucumber kimchi. WHAT!?! My date ordered the fall off the bones ribs. So tender and so flavorful. They also enjoy the lavender lemonade. Let's talk about this strawberry cake. 100 layers with fresh strawberries in the filling and on the side. I had to bring half of it home. Also our server was an absolute pleasure. She was funny, answered all our questions. She was laid back and just genuinely wanted us to love everything we ordered. Oh yes... I almost forgot! If they offer you the special candied bacon strips, do not hesitate. GET THEM!More infoPoor Calvin'sPrice: Expensive• Fusion / Eclectic• Downtown•4.9
