Biggin Hall’s oak-beamed restaurant possesses an abundance of character and is as cosy by candlelight in the evening as it is beautiful during the day with breathtaking views. Championing a whole host of local produce and seasonal ingredients, embracing a passion for tradition and excellence our kitchen team makes full use of the Peak District's natural larder when selecting produce for the regularly changing menu. Many of the ingredients are of local origin, with the accent on free-range, wholefoods, and natural flavours, together with a seasonal selection of vegetables. The emphasis of the menu is on simplicity and taste. Meals are imaginatively planned and freshly cooked with daily changing menus featuring a set course with a vegetarian option. It is this straightforward approach to cooking that allows the quality of the ingredients to shine through. Please be aware we do not accept children under the age of 12 years old at dinner time or for overnight stays.

Had the 9 course taster menu. Each course was excellent, although it was funny that dashi featured in the first three courses. It didn’t matter and we would have gladly drunk gallons. The only picky point was that I told them I am gluten intolerant on the booking and when we arrived, but still got given multiple courses with gluten ingredients. If I had assumed that they were correct, it could have been messy.

I took my wife to Lunar, for the first time, for our 22nd Wedding Anniversary, yesterday. She had no idea that I was going to do this and no idea what Lunar would be like. It turned out to be far more than we expected. The food and drink were exceptional, both in taste and presentation. The service was a refreshing return to the time when staff cared about who come in and how they were dealt with, from the moment we walked through the door to when we were given the guided tour afterwards. For us, a totally immersive experience that we greatly appreciated. Thank you.

A good friend travelled many miles to meet me. I chose the Ivy as I have been going there ever since it opened in Birmingham and eat in the many Ivy restaurants in London and elsewhere. I trust the menu and the wine list. Today the only things that went wrong were a polite request for the table I usually get or the second best table ( in my opinion). Yet having booked several weeks ago both were taken. When were they booked? Secondly the double espresso arrived cold. It was unlike the Ivy to do that. I have known all the previous managers but not the present one. I must introduce myself at my next visit.

Great meal, I had been recommended the pigeon starter and beef fillet main but assume the menu is changed regularly as neither were available . Still a great meal

Peerless in the local area. Food superb, some amazing dishes which were all good. From chicken pie to steak, risotto, chicken parfait to tarts tatin all superb Local bar also part of the pub restaurant which was nice to see. Only negative was one of the bar proper uppers decided it was ok to vape at the bar - pretty disgusting and staff seemed accepting of this as most diners had left at that point . Well done Duncombe, superb meal and top of your game
