Best Modern Southern American Restaurants in Brightwood

Excellent! One of my favorite restaurants! If you like New Orleans type food, this may be the best in the DMV! My party came for the gumbo (made with saffron in it) which wasn’t served until later. So I had to try a new dish and found out the fish and grits was also delicious. Back soon for their signature gumbo with some charbroiled oysters to start! Laissez bontemps roulez!

I was impressed with the restaurant. The service staff all seem to be working in unison. A few of our party was a little bit late for the reservation. Food came out of the kitchen quickly our server took very good care of us.

Our server, Moe, was top tier. Attentive, not intrusive, and made great recommendations on the menu. The playlist was perfect -- mostly a 90s, early 2000s vibe. It's like they knew I was there for my birthday and wanted to ensure I could vibe with every beat. The food taste and presentation were delightful. Loved the balloon decor - eye-catching, not over the top. Would definitely come back!

James took great care of us! He was aware of my gluten allergy. I had the chicken and waffle. The hubby had the biscuit and gravy. We enjoyed ourselves. We brought guests from Detroit and they loved it as well.

We visit DC eve RT January, and are always looking for restaurant that deserves a repeat visit. We finally found one! Wonderful southern style menu with unique and tasty twists. Definitely try the Sweetbread and Waffles!
