Founded in 2016, Eliza Restaurant & Bar is a cozy contemporary Creole restaurant serving local Louisiana food. After many years spent working in the hospitality industry in New Orleans, Russell & Sally Davis set out to open a simple concept in the Baton Rouge market - a scratch kitchen featuring Creole classics using fresh and local ingredients - all served with an abundance of genuine Southern hospitality.

At first glance, you might think the name of Rouj Creole is misspelled. Besides “rouj” instead of “roux,” a quick scan of the new restaurant’s menu shows the word “gonbo” where you’d expect to find “gumbo.”But owner Stephen Hightower isn’t a bad speller. He’s just bringing Baton Rouge a taste of Creole cuisine—complete with the authentic Haitian Creole spelling of traditional dishes.

The only place to get true Creole food is in Louisiana, or at least in someone from Louisiana’s kitchen. Come reste un peu (stay awhile) to downtown Baton Rouge and visit Chef Mark Reilly's Creole kitchen.

When you've served Cajun meals as long as we have, you learn the difference between real food and a bland imitation, and our guests know it too. Grilled, fried or on ice-there's time cooked into every dish and time spent on every home cooked recipe, so that every aroma, every bite, every sip and every gathering is memorable. We've spent more than 80 years creating a recipe for something much greater than a place for a lunch break or night out.
