At Babette, the husband and wife team of Joan Ellis and Patrick Hooker, are in the kitchen preparing each plate to ensure that their vision and taste profile are translated to each diner. The attention to detail are evident in not only the food they make but also the ambience they have created. The interior of the restaurant is natural brick and the couple have chosen a rich color palette of deep blues and greens for the walls. An elegant chandelier hangs over a natural wood backed booth providing both a cozy and elegant feel to the room. Outside on the spacious patio, a magnificent redwood tree provides natural shade to the built in seating area and plants are abundant creating a lush, garden setting. Le guide gastronomique Zagat fait l'éloge en ces termes de ce restaurant italien : lumineux et coloré, l'Ideale est une version moderne de la trattoria romaine traditionnelle. Il est « festif et animé... la vera cucina italiana ». L'Ideale apporte une ambiance de Rome à North Beach depuis plus de 20 ans, avec son très célèbre chef Maurizio Bruschi. Maurizio est issu de quatre générations de chefs romains et a été formé avec amour par sa grand-mère, la Nonna Serafina. Tous les jours, vous savourerez des pâtes, des pains et une cuisine maison. We love the whole package of food, location, ambiance, vibe! After eating here a few times, I'm looking forward to a fresh spring menu, though everything we've had has been delicious. Highly recommend the burrata appetizer, every one of the salads, and the seared fish. Fabulous!

The food and service was excellent . The whole staff we came in contact with was very friendly. Great views from almost everywhere in the restaurant. I highly recommend the restaurant and looking forward to going there again in the near future.
