It was the 1930s and Six Mile and Conant was like any street corner in Detroit… people walking to the market, neighbors helping neighbors, and friends meeting at the local gathering spot now known as Buddy’s. Buddy’s existed as a “blind pig,” skirting the State and Federal laws that governed the on-site sale and usage of alcohol. Booze was available there. The owner at the time was August “Gus” Guerra.

Time counts at BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse. Since our humble beginnings back in 1978, we’ve continued to refine our brewhouse experience to make BJ’s a place where you can make the most of any meal. We want BJ’s to be a place where the moment you leave is the moment you plan on coming back. We pride ourselves in our craft and attention to detail. Our guests come here for our award-winning handcrafted beer. They come here for the Southern California twist we’ve put on the Chicago-style deep dish pizza. And they come here for our Pizookies®, our world-renowned dessert. But above all we know people come here to make their good times better. So in many ways we haven’t just crafted a brand, but a mindset. And our guests are the reason for this. And it’s because of them we’re continually striving to make sure every moment they choose to spend with us counts. Welcome to BJ’s, a restaurant with a Brewhouse soul.

Detroit is what it builds. 75 years ago a new style of pizza was born in the Motor City and it was different. What makes a pizza Detroit-Style? The same things that made Detroit – a little bit of ingenuity, some stubborn spirit and a whole lot of heart. It’s what sparked an original idea back in 1946 to take a steel auto pan, create something new and make Buddy’s the birthplace of Detroit-Style Pizza.Detroit is what it builds. 75 years ago a new style of pizza was born in the Motor City and it was different. My wife and I were the with our grandkids( young adults). This was time first time for both of them. Our food choices were excellent ( Fettuccine Alfredo, Paparadelle Ragout, Lobster Fettuccine, Seafood Pasta). Our server, Ervis, was very attentive. This was an excellent evening!

Our first time here and we will definitely be back! Shared the Caeser salad and bbq chick pizza and both were delicious and plentiful!! Made a reservation before an 8pm show at the Fillmore but didn’t end up needing it. This will be our new go to place before a show.

Reserved a living room corner for 12 of us for book club. Pizza and salad was great… drinks delivered quickly, and the atmosphere was perfect. It was a busy night so it was a little loud, but that’s only a statement for how amazing this place is. Thank you MH for a great night.

You really don't need a reservation for this place. It has walk-in seating. The service was great despite there only being the 1 waiter and 1 bartender, so things moved a little slower than a normal restaurant. Food was delicious, we'll definitely go back.
