Our aim is to be the central hub of the community, The Axe and Compasses is a traditional British village pub dating back to 1628, serving a wide and varied selection of quality lagers, cask conditioned ales, fine wines, and premium spirits.     I looked up The Fox in the Michelin guide under gastropubs for somewhere to eat and stay for my husband’s birthday. It did NOT disappoint! The pub and restaurant were comfortable with a relaxed atmosphere and the food was fantastic - as good as any chef with Michelin stars in my opinion. The menu was varied and choice of wine excellent. The restaurant was tastefully furnished and so was our room with a lovely comfy bed! Cannot recommend enough to others.

    Good value roast dinner. One small issue - they advertise unlimited roast potatoes, Yorkshires and gravy. We asked 3 times for extra gravy as the meal was quite dry. The gravy did not come and there was no explanation or apology. Otherwise, it was all good.
