Here at Zafferano, we like to keep things a little old school, from sourcing to serving, our key values remain. Simone, the Head Chef and co-owner of Zafferano grew up inside the kitchen of his family's restaurant in Porticello, Sicily and brings that passion and authenticity to his food. We combine local, fresh, seasonal ingredients with passion and tradition, to create a menu that is endlessly devoted to flavour and quality. We have a love for food, for the whole experience. We believe in celebrating just how powerful food can be, from the seed to the plate. Because connection through food is our mission. Our space is intimate with only 38 seats and the overall vibe of the restaurant really transports you to Sicily with an outdoor courtyard that feels like a traditional Italian piazza. We have a few signature dishes however the Risotto Marinara & Spaghetti Marinara are definitely at the for front of our menu.

Our dough is rested between 36 and 72 hours, making the pizza easy to digest with a delectably crispy texture alla romana. The bar at Maybe Frank is our little secret. We are focused on aperitivo and digestive cocktails. Our list is constantly changing according to seasonality and provenance. Always using the freshest ingredients, and peculiar Italian liquor that we can find on the market. Maybe Frank is a place for daily-dining, Sunday drinking, and for a little day-dreaming of your next adventure to our beautiful mother land..………Eh la madonna!!!
Two very special but uniquely different places are the inspiration behind Pompei’s.
The spectacular rustic beauty of Cortina perched high in the Alps of northern Italy underpins everything we do. And the eclectic cool chic of the world’s most famous beach shapes how we do it.
Just as the dramatic vertical pale peaks of the Dolomites contrasts with the cosmopolitan marine landscapes of Bondi, our faith in traditional artisanal hand-crafting cooking contrasts with our creativity and innovation to produce delicately balanced healthy dishes.
It’s our tradition in evolution, continuing our journey guided by fond memories of my mother’s Italian home cooking. They say there’s two sides to every story - so stay a while and hear ours. We might be from Cortina, but we’ve made this place our home. And both places define us.
We’re Bondi made Italian.
Our concept lies in fusing the traditional recipes of northern and southern Italy, with a contemporary spin - all served up in an easy and welcoming space infused with the famed warm hospitality of the Italian restaurants.
