The key to Indie Cafe’s success is simple cuisine, elegantly prepared. Chef Iggy Waranon's dishes feature a dynamic combination of savory Thai and simple Japanese cuisine, with an emphasis on the original flavor of the fresh ingredients. Fresh and seasonal fish is often touched by cilantro-infused oils, miso dressing, and Asian citrus for pop and personality. Indie Cafe's fun, casual, and modern Asian interior also lends itself to a comfortable and cozy night with friends. Before the rolls arrive, order up a Ginger or Lychee Martini to whet the appetite. Oh—and for an added bonus, they’re mere steps from the beach.Best New Restaurants, Chicago magazine America's Top Japanese Restaurants, 2008 Zagat

The first Thai rotary hot pot restaurant in Chicago would introduce a unique and interactive dining experience similar to Japanese conveyor belt sushi, but with hot pot dining. In this concept, diners sit around a rotating conveyor belt that carries various ingredients like vegetables, meats, seafood, and noodles. Diners can pick the ingredients of their choice and cook them in individual hot pots right at the table.Rotary hot pot dining encourages a social and customizable meal experience where each person selects their broth and ingredients to create personalized dishes. It’s an evolving trend in Asian dining, particularly popular in Japan and some parts of Thailand.

My cousins and I tried this spot out for restaurant week and it was everything and more. We each got different dishes for our 3 course lunch meals so we tried a bit of everything. The tapioca is on the chewier side, which is the only thing I wasn't a big fan of but that is just personal preference. The food was delicious! For out appetizers we got edemame gyoza, jumbo shumai, and avocado katsu bao. We tried the shrimp pad thai, chicken tso good (seasoned perfectly), and the Maki Fresco sushi. The desserts we got were the mango sorbet, tempura brownies, and my personal favorite the banana wontons. The texture was crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside with a side of whipped cream. Our server was very attentive and food & drinks came out in less than 10 minutes of placing the orders. Would definitely come back.
