The food was hot and tasty. The dining room ambiance was very chill on the cloudy yet warm December afternoon. The server was out of this world, friendly and attentive! We’ll be back

I would have enjoyed my $60 prime rib meal had I not been seated in the bar when I requested standard seating and had the waitress brought my entire meal. First, she brought no steak knife, au jus, or horseradish. 10 minutes later, I got the steak knife but nothing else. I asked her about the horseradish and au jus while the rest of my party enjoyed their meals. About 20 minutes later, I got the horseradish but no au jus. When I asked her for it, she didn't seem to know what I meant. About 10 minutes after that, she brought the au jus and by then my meal was cold. I know they were busy but those are items that she should have checked for on the plate when she picked up my order. I took the meat home to give to my puppies. Highly disappointed.

Full Disclosure: We ate here Christmas Day, after making a reservation on Christmas Eve via Open Table. When we arrived we were informed that they had intended to close reservations on Open Table before Christmas Eve, and that they were overbooked. I showed them my e-confirmation; they must have felt badly for the mixup, and because my husband and I were dressed up (for us) for our dinner out because they asked us to sit and wait to see if they could squeeze us into a table upstairs. We waited for some time (20min) before they retrieved us … and then guided us to a table right by the window with a view of the river. We were very happy with that!! We perused the menu, placed our order, and proceeded to enjoy the view at our table for 2. When the food finally arrived, it was, sadly, underwhelming. Nothing was ‘bad,’ per se, but nothing was really great. My Mahi Mahi with soy glaze and wasabi mashed potatoes were actually sort of bland, and instead of the explosion of flavors I was hoping for when I read the menu, I poked my way through a mediocre meal, deciding to take the rest home and see if I could doctor it up later as a snack. My husband is vegetarian, and we decided to go even though their menu is not very vegetarian friendly. He does eat a little chicken sometimes, so he ordered the single chicken entree, and was similarly underwhelmed. Our favorite thing (the only thing we finished completely) was the Brussel Sprouts appetizer - it comes with a sort of chipotle mayo with bacon bits. This was a novelty experience - we appreciated seeing Old Sacramento for the first time since moving here during the pandemic, and being right on the water (hubby lived on Maui, and I am from San Diego) was very soothing for both of us. That said, we never need to come back here for this restaurant. Service was good - GM who found us window table get bonus points, and our waitress was nice enough, snapping Christmas photos for folks at her tables. Once is enough.

We had a reservation and were seated by a nice and efficient host. We were promptly greeted by a bus person who gave us water and bread and told us our server would come by soon. We waited for a half hour and never saw the server and the bus person didn’t return. The restaurant was not busy, and there were two other tables who had been seated before us who had no food or drinks. It was a disappointing experience.

Service was excellent, the food was good. They charged a Christmas surcharge of 25% without any notification.

I had Christmas dinner at the Pilot House. I was treated courteously at all times, and the staff were accommodating over the fact that I was late (I called to let them know I was running late). I had a lovely view of the river, but found it a bit odd that some of the tables were provided with tablecloths, while some of us had to make do with bare tables. However, there were some hiccups. First, I was extremely annoyed to discover and UNDISCOLSED 22% Christmas Day surcharge. It was mentioned nowhere on the menu, nor was it disclosed when I made my reservation. Didn't find out about it until I was presented with my bill after the meal. VERY POOR. My waiter was a disaster. I had been sitting at my table 20 minutes before I was even given water, and my order wasn't taken until 30 minutes after my arrival. My waiter brought my entree and forgot my starter. I had to ask another waiter for a spoon for my coffee after my waiter forgot it. I won't say these things ruined my meal, but they certainly didn't enhance it. The pear salad had an excellent flavor, but the three extremely thin shavings of pear seemed pretty cheap (as did the presence of only two pomegranate seeds. The turkey was pretty dry, and it would have been nice if ANY of the gravy had made it onto the mashed potatoes. All this said, I enjoyed my meal (despite being disappointed at the absence of pumpkin pie for dessert) and appreciate the ability to find a traditional Christmas meal available on Christmas Day.

Service was slow: waited at least 40 minutes before food was ready. Food not hot. Don’t know if being understaffed was a problem. Probably will not return.

As always, our dining experience at the Delta King was wonderful. We often choose to eat there because the food is good. Service is great and view on the river is spectacular.
