El tapeo is a great place for Spanish tapas! My wife and I had a date night there and we are definitely going back in the future! Super friendly staff, and the restaurant is on the 9th floor so it has a good view too.

Maggie was a wonderful server and people were all friendly. Tapas were surprisingly good – some of the best brussels sprouts and churros I’ve ever had! The paella was ok, but I would recommend going with the tapas. Overall, had an amazing experience. I would highly recommend and will be back.

All four of us ordered the Restaurant Week menu. The dishes were tantalizing, but we were disappointed that only one starter dish had a meager portion of serrano ham. We missed dishes with meat. The dates, artichokes, and potato bravas were delicious. You must order the potato bravas. The brussel sprouts would have been better whole, not shaved. Servers Crystal and Michael took very good care of us. Everyone was impressed with the decor and views. I loved the Alamedra mocktail, and our friends enjoyed the beautiful blueberry Lavender Mojito. At the same time, another friend adored the Numanthhia Termes Tempranillo Wine. She gave it rave reviews.

Love Spanish food. Went for tapas dinner. El Tapeo was disappointing. Positives: Free nearby parking. Nice setting. Friendly & knowledgeable staff, although stretched thin. Spanish plato (charcuterie board) was good. Negatives: Patatas bravas were okay (nothing special). Chicken croquetas texture was a bit odd, taste was meh. Gambas (shrimp, garlic, tomato, white wine) were poor, with little flavor. Limited wine selection: menu only shows wines by the glass, and only two Spanish reds. (When asked if they sold bottles of wine, our server left for a bit and came back with a sheet of paper with a short, unimpressive, list. We drank glasses of Tempranillo.) The restaurant provided a complimentary birthday dessert to my son, which I appreciated.

Service was excellent, professional and very accommodating. Food is alright, a little salty for our taste maybe not for others. Otherwise we had a good dinner.

Excellent food but ambience needs some attention. One of us ordered the Chicago Restaurant Week menu and one of us ordered 3 items from regular menu. We live tapas and were impressed and admittedly a little surprised by how delicious the plates were. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Just right. Ambience is my only criticism here. The space could’ve been a corporate cafeteria. Also a very echoey space. Would be nice to see warmer lighting and something to dampen conversations happening at the lounge area. Overall, great!

My husband and I decided to El Tapeo out for restaurant week. Frankly, we were extremely disappointed in our experience. While we understand how tapas style plates work, that’s fine with us. Not once, but twice a dish we did not order was brought to us (we declined both times) while we waited for our actual dish fish to come out. I had to ask our server twice if it was actually coming out. For references it was a brussel sprout dish, which I imagine doesn’t take 45 minutes to make. It finally came out after we finished our entire meal, without a single apology or notice aside from “it’s still coming.” The experience was underwhelming to say the least
