   We have been coming to Ella for many, many years. It’s one of our favorite restaurants in Sacramento. We drive from Rocklin to eat here.  Many times we’ve eaten here before attending a Sacramento Broadway show. Fortunately for us, three years ago we made dinner reservations before seeing Hamilton and we were assigned Kayla as our server. At that particular meal, we had a large party of 8. Kayla was an outstanding server. She was extremely friendly, always smiling, and extremely attentive. We’ve been lucky to have her as our server several more times since then. We had tickets to see Hamilton again last night and we requested Kayla. As fate would have it, she was working and assigned as our server!!!! As always, she was a pure joy and greatly enhanced our dining experience. She is one of the best servers we’ve ever had!! Also, the manager, Shane, came to our table several times to check on how we were doing and engaged us in enjoyable conversations. We have also known Shane for many years and knew him when he worked at various restaurants before going to Ella.. He is the ultimate goodwill ambassador for the restaurant. As always, the food was delicious… Especially the beet and date salad. My wife really enjoyed the lamb entrée. Additionally, the bread pudding and banana ice cream was a great dessert.

   Lunch experience on par with many business lunches at Ella - good service, good food. However, on this occasion, being seated next to a 15-foot high service podium, an ornamental feature fell off the top shelf onto stacks of glassware and sprayed around our two-seat table, and several tables next to us. Thankfully, we had risen and were about to walk out. Have to say, I'm more than a little disappointed that no one with the restaurant bothered to check on whether any of the flying glass hit me or my guest. A nearby server in mid-service to his table basically said, "oh we'll take care of it." No, neither I or we caused the ornament to fall...!

   We arrived for our reservation earlier than expected. However, they sat us right away. The quality of food was amazing and our server was attentive and accommodating with our needs. Great food, service and ambience! We highly recommend Ella Dining Room and Bar.

   We have always enjoyed Ella, but it was very different this time. The music was too loud, and the tables were too close together and small. Were we at Denny’s or Ella? The server kept putting my glass right on the edge of the table (since there wasn’t much space anyway) and I would have to move it so it didn’t fall off. Worst of all, our reservation was at 5:15 to leave by 7(ish) for a nearby 7:30 show. We barely got out by 7:15. The server explained our cocktails were late because the bar was backed up, and we gathered the kitchen must have also been backed up since our food was equally slow or slower. When the food arrived, it took a few tries to get the right plate to the right person. The food was as high-quality and delicious as always, but the ambiance and overall experience make us reluctant to return,

    Great evening! Fabulous waiter! Even though you placed us at a window table it was still too noisy. I wear hearing aids and prefer the table for 2 by the window on 12th Street side. I didn’t realize there was another choice. Next time I’ll be more specific when making a reservation. Thank you, Judy Post
