   We arrived 30 minutes early. We were immediately welcomed by the hostess who took our information. Since were early we took a seat at the first-floor bar. Brad the bar tender who welcomed us and took our cocktail orders. Brad asked if this was our first visit to Euphemia Haye. When he learned that this was our first time, Brad gave us recommendations of house specialties describing a few of his personal favorites. When we finished our first cocktail Brad offered another and made cocktail to my wife's request. The hostess informed us our table was ready and escorted us to our table. Our table had a card wishing us a happy anniversary. Tim(?) our server came and greeted us and seeing that we already had drinks informed us of house specialties and descriptions of them. We made our order of Peppered Steak, Key West Snapper and Brussel Sprouts. When we requested a suggestion of wine to go with the meals, he gave us excellent choices. We felt this was truly a 5 Star dinning experience. Food service and ambiance was simply outstanding. The only criticism would be the sad poinsettias in Thanks you for making our 10 year anniversary dinner so special Euphemia Haye!!! Mike H.

   We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. The food and service are consistently good at Euphemia Haye. The evening would not be complete without stopping in the Haye Loft for dessert and coffee. A true gem on Longboat Key

   I have been dining at EH for 40 years +. It seems to have lost its lustre to be honest. The food was very good, but the service has definitely diminished in the loft. We went up for dessert, there were only 3 items to choose between. The bus boy handed us water from the top of the glass with his fingers where we would drink. Not to mention no greeting when we sat down and he had an earbud in his ear. I think that they have lost the ability to train people the right way. Not sure if Darcy and Ray were still the owners that would be allowed. Our waiter downstairs, just seemed to be going through the motions. Items didn’t come out together from the kitchen. The recipes still stand the test of time from the banana bread, to the duck and pepper steak and the desserts were good. Just seems to have lost the extra that it used to have.

   Fantastic restaurant in decor, lovely salad and wine. Then we shared the entree. The veal was bland and chewy and the cannelloni was so disappointing. It was just chopped meat. Brownie was good! I do wish the food was better.

   Dinner was excellent as always. It was a bit disappointing that the desert room was not open due to staff shortages. It is something we really look forward too.

   An idyllic setting....almost a step back in Florida gentility. From the moist banana bread welcome to the peppercorn steak....each course carefully crafted. Attentive waitstaff. What a delightful experience

    I have eaten at Euphemia Hayes several times but not in the last 3 years. Previous experiences were outstanding, however this reservation was extremely poor. Our waiter obviously was having a bad evening and certainly made us feel like he just wanted to get the evening over with. Both my wife and myself were disappointed with our meals. I ordered the Pate and had to eat it with my bread as the crackers served with the Pate were so hard one could not bite through them. My wife's Chicken Florentine was borderline burnt as it was so overcooked, my Veal had absolutely no taste, the sauce was thin and appeared watery. My grandaughter had the Grouper and her meal was very good as well as she enjoyed her Shrimp appetizer. We waited 25 minutes from the time we finished our appetizer until our entre arrived. Small room was really noisy, not the fault of the restaurant but a very loud group. We had dessert upstairs and everything was excellent. I hate writing a review like this as I can only imagine how difficult it must be to please every customer but this meal was very poor and certainly did not meet the standard that Euphemia Haye has met in the past.
