This high-energy bistro took over as Williamsburg's best restaurant as soon as it opened in 2003. The sophisticated but relaxed dining room has an open kitchen, which uses fresh, local ingredients for its creative American fare. Reservations for the dining room and the bar are recommended and may be made up to 61 days in advance. Open daily for dinner, a reservationist is available during the day to take reservations by phone.

All reservations are for Fat Canary. Downstairs at Fat Canary is no reservations and is a same day, in-person check-in for our waitlist.

    Excellent meal and great service. Not the least expensive meal in town but we knew that going in. Very nice date night experience.

    No wonder it’s so hard to get a table. The service, food and cocktails were all excellent. Highly recommend for a date night or adult dinner with friends.

    We had a wonderful evening tonight. Sylvia was amazing in the service. We are looking for her to do great successes in finance when she graduates this spring!  The food was as always great! You cannot go wrong with the Fat Canary!!

    Excellent food and service as usual, with our drinks of choice waiting for us at our favorite table with our favorite server, Keith ready for our order. The food was outstanding, oyster stew and lobster linguini to start and beef filet and halibut fish special for the main course with an ice cream special and chocolate mousse cake for dessert. The only thing keeping it from being absolutely perfect was that the chairs have gotten increasingly uncomfortable. The banquette seating is still comfortable but the chairs are in need of a refresh or replacement. Colonel Crayon would greatly appreciate it.

    We’ve never had a disappointing meal at the Fat Canary. We were hoping for a halibut special and were fortunate to experience a delicious variation with risotto.
