Best Authentic Restaurants in Elgin

Balmoral is always fabulous! Their cocktails are unique and the menu is solidly Scottish. We've been many times and come for special occasions -- last night was our anniversary. We enjoyed the smoked Finnan haddock dip with toast points and it was, as usual wonderful. For entrees my husband ordered the pork chops which were moist and flavorful, and I tried the Manor House duck --- outstanding with a mild sauce. The restaurant was full yet the service was attentive. Highly recommend!

We had a late Valentine’s Day celebration combined with our wedding anniversary. I selected Thassos as our place of celebration, and oh how we felt like royalty! The food- just incredible. The service- best you’ll find in Chicago. The drinks? - better than those I’ve had at restaurants in New York or Denver. Such a romantic setting for our special day and I can’t thank Thassos enough for the beautiful memories we have created there.. Do yourself a favor and make a reservtaion, because this place has always been packed when I’ve been here and it’s no surprise! I can’t stop thinking about that Shrimp appetizer with red sauce and feta!! Out of this world!!

Everything was great. The food was good. The service was good. The only thing I didn’t like is I would not want to be seated upstairs because I had a broken arm and the lady where you check in told me you need to call instead of putting a note here on OpenTable so they couldn’t help me with sitting downstairs. I had to go upstairs so if you have someone in a wheelchair, your best call or you cannot eat there.

Outstanding food and service! Everything we have tried on the menu has been excellent, along with their specials. No doubt the community loves place as its always busy when we go. Five stars.

We had a slight issue with an allergy and they were so accommodating
