Best Authentic Restaurants in Elysian Valley

Momed is one of the great gems in LA. From the moment you walk through the entry with the Mediterranean kitchen on full display, to the open seating area warm and inviting. You instantly fall in love with Momed. The bar is the setting where you want to camp out and try any of the hand-crafted cocktails with the sumac chicken wings and grab an order of the cauliflower, too; the rice flour-based tempura is mind-blowing. Dinner at Momed is exceptional, too- starting with the Muhammara, the fermented pepper paste with the house-made sourdough pita is life-changing. You can't go wrong with anything on the small bites list; the smoked labni in the roasted beets is mouth-watering. For your main course, try everything, but the short rib with the zhoug is a go-to every time for me, and the striped bass is also fantastic. Momed will become your favorite spot as it has mine.

Nice restaurant. We went for the Thanksgiving Day dinner. They were out of turkey, which was what we both wanted to order. The other 3 options available were good., so we had beef and salmon. Would like to try this restaurant for their regular menu sometime.

the dishes were quite inventive and not the sort of things we encounter in san diego restaurants. the squab pasta was amazingly tasty, the branzino perfectly prepared and delicious and the broccoli with olive oil, garlic and lemon couldn't have been better. the honeycomb ice cream and cannoli were just the right ending to our wonderful meal. the wine list was also inventive and the bottle of sicilian grillo blend paired perfectly with our dishes.

We've dined at the original Civico in San Diego before, and were excited to try their new location in Los Angeles and bring along our close friends who are vegan to test their vegan menu as well. To no surprise, their food was absolutely perfect, and on a rainy day the ambiance, wine, and flavors were cozy, friendly, and we didn't feel rushed to scarf down our meal and move along. The textures of the vegan cheeses were all divine, and the tiramisu (which we put head-to-head) were both to die for.
