MUA is known for its open atmosphere, eclectic décor, art events and, of course, its delicious food. Family owned and run Mua was one of the first restaurants to open in what was then Auto Row in Oakland, in 2008. After their first 2 restaurants, Pastoral in Berkeley (first opened in 1982 while still students, 37 in the architecture program at Cal and San-Ju painting at SFAI) then later Soizic (Jack London Square, 1996), they wanted to shift gears from heavily curated menus to more comfort-based fare catering more to the eclectic and artistic community in Oakland. First time diner. Joined by two friends and we all agreed it was great. Loved the Cauliflower Soup and Grilled Cheese Sandwich. Attentive service and we were not rushed which we appreciated as we are not together often.

Always fun to visit MUA! It’s got the busy, eclectic, city vibe, delicious dishes and great service. Guac, calamari for starters and the mains: soft shelled crab po’boy, burger, salmon, fried chicken. Everyone at the table enjoyed their choices. See you soon MUA!

We went here for the experience. Everything was great. Maybe we'll return when they have a new menu, but it won't be a frequent stop. Since we sat at the Bar, hopefully we get a chance to seat at the Restaurant section (gonna have to save up). Thank you for the experience.

Service was very good. The ambiance was great. Food was good - a group of 6 of us did three waves of small plates. Never felt rushed - appreciated that from the staff. Very nice evening all around.
