Top Hatters Kitchen and Bar is a modern neighborhood restaurant, that has secured a place on the SF Chronicle's top 100 list and has been honored with a Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition. We serve an eclectic mix of rustic made-from-scratch dishes, celebrating the wonderful textures that make up our neighborhoods. We offer a mingling of small and large plates, meant to be shared, always nuanced and inspired by what we harvest from our neighboring small farms. Our food is approachable, eschewing complicated names, and bohemian in spirit as we are nonconforming and unconventional—sophisticated only in the way we can weave different ethnic influences and ingredients together.

Recommended in the MICHELIN Guide for California 2021-2023. Located in Oakland’s historic Grand Lake District, Bardo is a neighborhood lounge and restaurant inspired by the comfort and camaraderie of a mid-century dinner party. Drawing on the celebration and elegance of old school entertaining, we envisioned a space for friends and neighbors to enjoy amazing food, cocktails, conversation and great music. Our lounge is a swank living room, furnished with hand-picked finds from antique and vintage markets from Palm Springs to Portland. Our mezzanine dining room features a rotating menu of fresh, seasonal supper-fare with local and sustainably sourced meats, fish and produce. While we think the food, drinks and atmosphere are all great reasons to visit us, it’s the relationships with our friends, neighbors and guests that is the driving force behind Bardo.

After their first 2 restaurants, Pastoral in Berkeley (first opened in 1982 while still students, 37 in the architecture program at Cal and San-Ju painting at SFAI) then later Soizic (Jack London Square, 1996), they wanted to shift gears from heavily curated menus to more comfort-based fare catering more to the eclectic and artistic community in Oakland. The service is exceptional. I would have given it five stars, but the flickering lighting detracted from the experience. BBQ Shrimp was like you were in New Orleans, so Yummy. The black cod was amazing. The greens had the right amount of vinegar to heat and were very flavorful. My cousin and I had never tried goose, so we ordered it. While it was good, it was our least favorite. However, the pot pie that came with it was excellent. The cocktails and wine were great. I would go back again.

2nd time to Horatio's this year, Thanksgiving and now Christmas Day. The Holiday menu was extensive and all items tried each meal were very good to outstanding. On Christmas Day, our dinner server was Chad and he was exemplary in his attention to our meal. The restaurant was full and he had a large number of tables to serve from what we could could see. However, from bread and drinks to desert, he hardly missed a beat. Our previous Thanksgiving dinner was also excellent and the sever was very good as well. On this occasion, my wife had Seafood Pasta and I had Sea Bass stuffed with crab, also excellent. Try the key lime pie for desert if they have it, outstanding. We plan to go back soon for lunch or dinner. Plenty of parking with easy access from the freeway 5 minutes away. GN Alameda, CA

The food is phenomenal. The atmosphere is lovely. Each dish has its own flavor profile, the flavors are amazing, the quality and presentation is amazing. A meal I dream about until the next time we go back. Love the Oxtail Stew, the meat platters are fantastic. The tissue bread, the artichokes, the mussels are all fantastic. And desserts are out of this world.
