Elizabeth and I were very excited to open our restaurant in Downtown Stuart. After years of visiting our parents our hearts led us back here each time we considered a different location. Our son Taylor (our Executive Chef) and I, both have a culinary education and all three of us are extremely passionate about quality food,drinks and hospitality. We thoroughly enjoy taking great care of our guests. “the Gafford” is named after my grandparents who taught us how to enjoy life, have fun and laugh (especially at ourselves). My grandfather was in the Air Force and hospitality business all of his life and taught me so much about business, cooking and hospitality. I can remember when I was young visiting my grandparents on their farm. My grandfather used to teach me how to grill. My favorite dish to cook together was a giant Ribeye steak. On our menu, that is our signature item and we call it “the Gafford.” Welcome to the Gafford where casual meets upscale.

The Stuart Boathouse is a local's favorite waterfront dining location. The beautifully restored 1920's Restaurant is located directly on the river in downtown Stuart next to the band shell. Specializing in fresh caught seafood, oysters, sushi, as well as many favorites for the land lovers. Accompany dinner with a great bottle from our wine list or one of our signature cocktails. The Stuart Boathouse is great for special occasions or for just hanging out with some friends. The Stuart Boathouse is open seven days a week serving lunch and dinner. One of my favorite restaurants in Stuart. Always a great meal. We had oysters and the wedge salad and a hamburger and seared tuna. Everything was excellent including the service.

Wonderfully reliable food. Went for early dinner and got happy hour prices on good drinks - a Manhattan and a house Cabernet (generous pour). Kudos to this restaurant for providing rolls and salad with dinner. One of the specials, herb-roasted half chicken, was outstanding. Roasted perfectly. Tender meat. Great portion. We also had the chopped sirloin. They know the correct way to do it here. Great flavor, lots of mushrooms and cooked exactly to order (medium well). Also a very good portion. Sides (vegetable medley and baked potato) prepared with care.

My wife and I eat here all the time. The food is constantly delicious. The owner frequently greets to make sure everything is up to his standards. Highly recommend the Gafford it is definitely our go to for dinner.

Our first visit, their first night with a new menu. Our food was unbelievably good, tasty and creative flavors in the mango salmon. Prime rib was good. Service including attention from the manager was awesome. We definitely recommend this place and will return when we are in Stuart again.
