Elizabeth and I were very excited to open our restaurant in Downtown Stuart. After years of visiting our parents our hearts led us back here each time we considered a different location. Our son Taylor (our Executive Chef) and I, both have a culinary education and all three of us are extremely passionate about quality food,drinks and hospitality. We thoroughly enjoy taking great care of our guests. “the Gafford” is named after my grandparents who taught us how to enjoy life, have fun and laugh (especially at ourselves). My grandfather was in the Air Force and hospitality business all of his life and taught me so much about business, cooking and hospitality. I can remember when I was young visiting my grandparents on their farm. My grandfather used to teach me how to grill. My favorite dish to cook together was a giant Ribeye steak. On our menu, that is our signature item and we call it “the Gafford.” Welcome to the Gafford where casual meets upscale.

The Stuart Boathouse is a local's favorite waterfront dining location. The beautifully restored 1920's Restaurant is located directly on the river in downtown Stuart next to the band shell. Specializing in fresh caught seafood, oysters, sushi, as well as many favorites for the land lovers. Accompany dinner with a great bottle from our wine list or one of our signature cocktails. Met with friends for a Saturday lunch. Was crowded and noisy. Had vegan sushi and it’s nothing extraordinary. Ordered shrimp and scallop sandwich with fries. Had tummy discomfort and wasn’t sure the freshness of the food?! Disappointed! Enjoyed the ocean view and good service. Our friend ordered the breakfast menu and he found the dish was overly salty. Other than that everything was well.

Service is excellent and the food is delicious. The roasted mushroom soup was divine. The salads and entrees were delicious. Mabel's fried chicken and the meatloaf are always amazing!

I invited two other couples that have not been here before. They loved it! The bartenders were very friendly and helpful. I had my first expresso martini and it was perfect. The food was fresh and exceptions were eagerly made for one of my friends that has food allergies. I am usually nervous when recommending a restaurant but was not this time. Both couples said they had a wonderful time and definitely coming back.
