Founded in 1996 the ideas for the Marblehead Chowder House were actually hatched a few years before. Sitting at "The Barnacle," overlooking Marblehead Harbor one raw winter day, while the spume from the rough saltwater painted the windows and the Sam Adams Lager flowed freely, a concept was born. Casual, coastal and cozy - fresh seafood, fin fish, shellfish and hearty chowders in a warm, relaxing atmosphere that says "seaside" - a place that had tradition, patriotism, and a New England heritage about it. Fresh ingredients, house-made soups and chowders, comfort food with a twist freshly prepared to order were all musts!     We were celebrating my sister in law’s birthday today and ate here. Morgan was our server and took great care of us. I was the only one with Celiac and was reassured that the food would be safe for me to have. We shared the chicken lettuce wraps as an appetizer. They tasted great. I ordered a chicken sandwich on a gluten free bun. It was very flavorful. My husband had the Moroccan salmon and my sister in law had a burger. The service was excellent! I felt fine from the lunch!

    My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for years. Tonight we went to celebrate my father’s 65th birthday and we had a fabulous experience. The hostess was wonderful, the bartender was very welcoming, and our server Patrick was next level. He was prompt, attentive and personable. We appreciate the service he gave us! We definitely will be coming back and requesting his service again. Thank you Patrick!
