Jérôme Ferrer Europea is a creative cuisine gem in downtown Montreal. It's not just about the food, but the whole experience. As one reviewer said, the food is 'an art' and another praised it for being 'whimsical'. The chef and his team have managed to create a 'unique and special experience' for every diner. They've even been crowned 'maitre cuisinier de France', a title reserved for the best chefs in France.

This charming and intimate restaurant serves a generous and creative fresh market cuisine, cheerfully prepared by chef-owners Marc De Canck and Olivier de Montigny. At La Chronique, the pleasures of the table are always front and centre. But in addition to the delights it serves up, the restaurant is also known for its extensive wine list awarded ''Best Award of Excellence'' by Wine Spectator in 2024, welcoming décor and impeccable service. Little wonder it's been considered "essential eating" in Montreal since 1995.

Lovely restaurant. We were there on a very cold day and coming from the outside into a warm, cozy, modern place felt amazing. We were offered a coat check, which was mind blowing for an American. We had reservations and we were seated right away , nice little table by the window. The restaurant was busy, lots of people enjoying themselves sipping wine and having conversations, so it was noisy, but in a good way. Our waitress was really attentive and pleasant. Food was great. I tried the bone marrow pasta, tasted delicious, but too much for me, and portion wise and “ too fatty “, in a good way though, I took it to go. My son really enjoyed it later. He also loved his NY steak. Amazing experience. I would totally come back and recommend.

The main entrance of the restaurent brings a lot of cold draft in when someone gets in or out. The satelite radio is a major downer of ambiance, especially with the commercials between songs. Food is amazing, service was OK but we felt like we were bothering or that we came in too late. Might be just me, but I had a bad vibe.

The dishes are beautiful to the eye, the taste is a hit or miss. Service on that night was rushed. We were ignored a lot, it was busy and we were sitting in a corner.

We decided last minute to rebook our reservation after learning it was out of the downtown area of Montreal and I am SO happy we went! The depth of layers of each dish was phenomenal. They even had my favorite, sweetbreads! I will definitely be back next time I’m in Montreal!
