New York City restaurateurs Pietro and Kelly Molendini took over the classic St. James farmhouse turned restaurant. The former co-owners of Vite Vinosteria in Astoria, Queens, who had moved from the city to Centerport, spent the summer renovating the dining room to a modern, clean look with neutral tones and contemporary artwork from Pietro Molendini's native Rome. They also expanded the bar from about four to 11 seats.Pietro Molendini has spent 30 years in the food industry, with a decade of that at Cipriani and stints at both Bar Pitti and Da Silvano. Food and service were outstanding. Staff were very courteous and efficient in providing service throughout our meal. Every dish was beautifully prepared and presented. Our group loved the skirt steak and salmon entrees. A great place for a special meal!

Insignia is by far my favorite restaurant! Tonight we dined with my in-laws. They complicate every dining experience. Our waiter Anthony was kind and patient with them. He was attentive to their requests and needs and made for an amazing experience. They enjoyed themselves as did I. The food was excellent like usual. Wine and cocktails wet the pallet. We started with the calamari which has a delicious miso lime vinaigrette- sooo delicious. In addition, we had the applewood smoked bacon. That was a lovely experience watching it be torched tableside. Our appetizers were comprised of wedge salads, Caesar salad, and tomato and mozzarella. Filet mignon was cooked to my desired temperature, while the mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and mac and cheese added to the richness of our plates. Let us not forget the cheesecake and donuts!! Cappuccino and hot tea to end a deliciously perfect meal! Thank you Anthony for a quality experience!! I’ll be back with friends!!
