- DDanielHawaii •1 review5.0Dined 2 days agoMy wife and I recently took my sister and her husband, who were visiting from Charlotte, to State Bird Provisions, and it was nothing short of amazing. The food was absolutely exceptional—each dish was a perfect blend of creativity and flavor. My sister and her husband couldn’t stop raving about how unique the food was, especially the bold use of spices. It was a hit with all of us! The ambiance was also fantastic. The space has a warm and inviting vibe that strikes the perfect balance between trendy and comfortable, making it a great spot for both special occasions and casual nights out. What truly elevated our experience, though, was our waiter. He was excellent—extremely friendly, attentive, and impressively knowledgeable about the menu. He had such a genuine enthusiasm for the food and shared thoughtful recommendations, which we greatly appreciated. At one point, we mentioned we’d heard Ryan Gosling had dined here, and he surprised us by saying he’d actually been Ryan’s waiter! He even told us about the time Ryan came in with Eva Mendes and their two kids. Such a cool story to hear directly from someone who was part of it! State Bird Provisions delivered on every level: amazing food, great atmosphere, and top-notch service. My sister and her husband loved it as much as we did. We’ll definitely be back and can’t recommend it highly enough!More infoState Bird ProvisionsPrice: Very Expensive• Californian• Western Addition•4.7
- LLindsaySan Francisco Bay Area •1 review5.0Dined 2 days agoService, quality, flavor: all impeccable. The gardiniera was so perfectly balanced, fresh and interesting with celery, radish, and fennel. I knew it would be great, but was even better than that. My table mate who doesn’t generally care for anything pickled was blown away. The chicories were gorgeous, colorful, and delicious. The tagliatelle was absolutely stunning both texturally and depth of flavor. Tiramisu and chocolate budino are exquisite, truly. Save room for dessert. I loved the NA passion fruit cocktail and sparkling blanc de blanc. Such a treat to have something n thoughtful and delicious for folks who aren’t drinking. It’s a beautiful dining room. I sat on the banquet on the south wall and felt like I was under a spotlite. A little less overhead light intensity would take it from a 9 to a 10.More infoChe Fico San FranciscoPrice: Expensive• Italian• North Panhandle / USF•4.7
- CCarolineSan Francisco Bay Area •19 reviews5.0Dined 6 days agoIt’s a fun spot with tasty food at a moderately premium price. There is better Chinese food to be had in San Francisco, but the vibe here makes it worth the occasional trip. We had the chrysanthemum salad, which was very tasty and fresh though I didn’t much care for the dressing. It seemed a little bland to me. We had the xiao long bao, which I usually love. These were very tasty, but nothing special. The fat noodles were great. The sauce was a little sweet to my taste. The winner for me was the tofu clay pot with minced pork. Wonderfully spicy and full of interesting flavors, offset by the creamy creamy tofu. Really beautifully prepared.More infoChina LivePrice: Moderate• Chinese• Chinatown•4.7
- JJohnChicago / Illinois •5 reviews5.0Dined on Dec 21, 2024The star of the evening was undoubtedly the grilled octopus, prepared with a masterful touch that spoke to the chef's expertise with seafood. The tender tentacles, charred to perfection, carried subtle notes of harissa and lemon, while maintaining the natural sweetness of the meat. Each bite offered that ideal combination of crispy exterior and buttery-soft interior that octopus aficionados dream about. The lamb dish proved equally impressive. Slow-cooked until falling off the bone, the meat was perfumed with an aromatic blend of traditional Tunisian spices. The accompanying bread, light and fluffy, served as the perfect vehicle for soaking up the rich, complex sauce. What sets this establishment apart is their commitment to authentic Tunisian coastal cuisine while maintaining exceptional quality across their menu. The kitchen demonstrates a deep understanding of traditional cooking techniques while adding subtle contemporary touches that enhance rather than overshadow the classic flavors.More infoGolaPrice: Moderate• Tunisian• Mission•4.7
