Founded in 1996 the ideas for the Marblehead Chowder House were actually hatched a few years before. Sitting at "The Barnacle," overlooking Marblehead Harbor one raw winter day, while the spume from the rough saltwater painted the windows and the Sam Adams Lager flowed freely, a concept was born. Casual, coastal and cozy - fresh seafood, fin fish, shellfish and hearty chowders in a warm, relaxing atmosphere that says "seaside" - a place that had tradition, patriotism, and a New England heritage about it. Fresh ingredients, house-made soups and chowders, comfort food with a twist freshly prepared to order were all musts! Features unique to New England were the foundation – Ipswich Belly Clams (aka steamers, softshells, pissers), fresh Lobster Roll, a Raw Bar with half-shell oysters and clams and, of course, live Lobsters arriving regularly.     Another fantastic dining experience at the king George inn the turkey club sandwich was fabulous and the piano player Alex otey is outstanding he played a mix of holiday tunes and regular jazz standards he’s the best So is king George inn the best food and friendly staff I enjoy eating at king George inn

    Another great meal at JB's! This time we both tried the Boston Baked Haddock from the featured menu. It was absolutely one of the best featured entrees ever! As always, the service was outstanding, this time by Haley!

    Christmas Eve dinner to celebrate a family birthday. Bar staff were welcoming and cocktails were delicious. The waitress was friendly and gave good recommendations. Pizza was delicious. Fun evening. Note if you have younger kids, some tables are high tops with stools. Fun atmosphere!

    We are repeat visitors - this is now our “go to” spot for many reasons. We love to come here to watch the Eagles. We also bring out of town friends here for meals. We love to play trivia here on Thursday nights. We also celebrate our family milestones here. Why? Because they always provide best in class service coupled with high quality food that is decently priced. This place ALWAYS delivers. We are so glad to have a local spot that hits high marks every time we visit. P.S. get the free Captain’s Club card. Its perks are actually worth having it!
