Best Lunch Restaurants in Dorchester

The Countryman Inn is an absolute gem and a must-visit if you’re in Dorset. In my opinion, they serve the best carvery in the county—the meat is always tender, the vegetables perfectly cooked. The quality and variety are exceptional, and it’s fantastic value for money. The staff are welcoming, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and it’s clear that a lot of care goes into this place. Whether you’re local or just passing through, this place is well worth a visit. Highly recommended!

This is the best dining experience I have had in a very long time. It was made really good by the consummate professional that was our server. It was so nice to have a bottle of wine properly presented, to have a good discussion about the menu with knowledgeable recommendations. He was excellent. The food was very nice. The menu is varied and interesting. The prices are very reasonable. An absolute gem of a restaurant.

Really enjoyed the Cote breakfast on New Year’s Day. Excellent food, very pleasant and efficient staff - just a little noisy. This is as a result of sound bouncing off all the hard surfaces. We recently attended similar restaurants that have installed ceiling baffles that improved the noise significantly.

We would like to thank everyone at the Spice Ship Weymouth for such an amazing Christmas Day meal. It was absolutely lovely from start to finish. The pub itself was decorated like something out of a fairytale! We are going to book again for next year! Can’t wait!

We ate here for Xmas Eve , we wanted somewhere that served delicious food but in a quiet atmosphere as we were with my elderly parents who are hard of hearing This restaurant was perfect in both ways, excellent tasty dishes well prepared and served. And not at all noisy , tables well spaced apart and we ate early so not busy either
