Allanton Inn is outstanding in every respect: the welcome, quality of food, drink, service, atmosphere, friendliness...everything! Great that - unlike so many other local inns - it was open on New Year's Day.....a really special day for us too as it was my wife's birthday. On the several occasions we've been to Allanton in recent years (with friends too), we've never been disappointed. If you find yourself in the Scottish / English borders, within travelling distance of Allanton, and you want to partake of what their inn offers, as described above, honestly.....don't even consider going anywhere else! Yes, it really is that excellent.
