Best Restaurants for Outdoor Dining in Carlsbad

Food was good, not great. Perhaps a little overreaching on some flavor profiles in an effort to be unique? Service and ambiance for a Monday night were excellent. I can’t wait to try it again when the seasonal menu changes. Overall our group gave the experience a solid B+. Could easily be an A in our next visit.

I’ve eaten lunch at the Landings several times and the food has always been delicious. Last Saturday night was my first dinner with the added enjoyment of the band. I loved the party atmosphere sitting outside. It was almost impossible to talk, but we managed to yell at each other so we still had fun!

The hostesses provided a friendly greeting and sat us immediately. Our server was attentive and acknowledged that we were celebrating a birthday. The fish was fresh and delicious. I would recommend the macadamia nut Halibut. It was delicious and my first time trying it.

We had a reservation for outside on the patio and were seated promptly. But then it took quite awhile before anyone came to our table. It was the busboy who asked if we'd like water. We had been told someone would be over right away to light the heater (it was pretty chilly) but we had to ask the busboy to do it. Which he did. Eventually our waiter, Sean, came to our table. He wasn't overly friendly initially but as the evening wore on, he got better and by the end, I thought he was pretty good. Our food was delicious and my husband loved his cocktail (which Sean suggested when they didn't have what my husband was asking for). We had a lovely evening, enjoying the patio, our food and each other! We love coming here although we don't do it very often.

I am surprised that Chandlers is not busier for lunch. The food was excellent and our server Janie was excellent. 5 stars
