We chose this restaurant for brunch prior to seeing a Saturday matinee of MJ The Musical at The Academy of Music. Great choice. The restaurant opens at 11 a. m. and I arrived about 10:45. The hostess greeted me and explained that they were just about ready and offered me a seat in the pleasantly heated foyer. That gave me time to see that this is an attractive, nicely appointed facility. Upon getting to my seat, I was greeted by Shekar (Please forgive me. I am sure that I have totally mangled his name.) who was very attentive and efficient throughout our stay. After my friend arrived, we both ordered soup. While both the sausage soup and the jumbo lump crab soup were delicious they were both a little too salty. For an entree, I ordered the shrimp and grits and she ordered a delicious looking crab cake sandwich. To my surprise, she liked the look of my dish so much that she ended up packing her sandwich to go and ordering the shrimp and grits too. We both stuffed ourselves with desserts. I had the superb chocolate cake and she ordered the key lime parfait -- both great choices. This is a perfect location for shows and events on or near South Broad Street. We will return. One final note: we thoroughly enjoyed what seemed to be a great Sound of Philadelphia soundtrack. It brought back so many memories.
