The Merchant is a big space that served for more than a century as a leather store. We've brought in high-top tables near the windows ... a 40-foot bar on one side of the room … and more formal dining spots on the opposite side. We have a private dining room in back, and another private dining room downstairs. For our menu, we make almost all of our fare from scratch. Executive chef Ignacio Lopez previously worked at both Beat Hotel in Cambridge and Tuscan Kitchen in Burlington. Chef Lopez cures and smokes all the meat in house. Our burger is top-notch, as are other dishes like house-made Gnochhi, Organic Chicken Milanaise and Steak Frites. The Merchant serves salads, sandwiches ($15-$21), and more for the lunch rush. And for dinner, we are a full-service brasserie (with most entrees ranging from $25-$30). Thanks for another fun brunch experience. Timmy was attentive and fun, food was amazing with tuna tartare, hash, the burger and the cinnamon buns exceeding expectations, and the wine was lovely. Look forward to next visit already! Happy New Year!

Second time in and our party of five had a fantastic experience, equal parts food, drink, service (especially waitress with impeccable timing) and ambience. Octopus, endive salad, lamb chops, filet, duck club, burgers - all delicious and prepared exactly as requested, including GF accommodation. A Manhattan heavy on specifics was expert-crafted, sub-zero cold and delivered at the perfect time. Great music heavy on classic indie played loud enough to hear but low enough to talk normally. We’ll be back for sure!

The food was very good. Highly recommend the restaurant. Inventive non alcoholic drinks. The service was very good. The layout of the seating not as private. Tables too close to each other. Use of the nearby doors makes the place very cold on a breezy Boston winter day. Dress accordingly.
