The layout had a number of floors with small dining rooms on each. The ambiance was cozy - roaring fires, natural holiday decorations, soft lighting. The noise level was moderate - conversations happened easily at normal talking volume. The wine list was extensive, while the beer offerings were lackluster. The menu focuses on New England cuisine with many heavy, warming dishes. We visited during December, so it’s possible they have a different seasonal menu for the warmer months. The restaurant and all the staff went out of their way to make him feel special with welcoming birthday wishes. Our server was excellent and even treated Dad to Baked Alaska dessert, flaming rum and all, to mark the occasion. Dinner was lovely but dessert was the winner tonight. Decorated beautifully for Christmas…greens, wreaths, so many candles glowing and the twinkly lights everywhere made it feel like a Christmas wonderland (side note) because the lighting is dimmed so can enjoy the decor was a big hard to read the menu at the table Maybe an extra little table lamp would help 10 out of 10 experience The Coast Guard is is consistently at the top of the list.
