Portugal: Land of ExplorersIn the 15th Century, Prince Henry the navigator ordered his explorers to bring back to Portugal any exotic fruits, nuts and plants from the new lands. Tomatoes and potatoes are taken to Europe, Brazilian pineapples were introduced to Azores, Brazilian chili peppers grew in Angola, African coffee was transplanted to Brazil.Today the Portuguese fondness for ingredients like cinnamon or curry powder, is also a legacy of his time. The Romans brought wheat and introduced onion, garlic, olives and grapes. Later the Moors were the first to plant rice and introduced figs, planted groves of lemons, oranges and almond trees. Portugal is a seafaring nation with a well-developed fishing industry trading cod since the 15th century.Today, naturally, Portuguese cuisine varies from region to region , but fresh fish and shellfish are found on virtually every menu. We had a fabulous Valentine’s Day dinner at The Squires last night. We were a party of four. We were greeted with a beautiful rose for the ladies in our party—a very nice and thoughtful touch. We had excellent service and we all enjoyed the food! The restaurant was decorated beautifully for Valentine’s Day! The owner, Steve was kind enough to stop at our table to welcome us and chat. He was such a gentleman! Our waiter, Corey was a delight and gave us excellent service. We love this restaurant and will continue to return time and time again!

The Drifthouse gave us a most memorable Valentine experience. We were seated at a prime table with a view of the ocean and the pool. Although off season, we had the feel that wait staff through top management were there to make this the wonderful time it actually was for us. Mealwas excellent! The seafood platter was fresh and cooked to yield greatest taste. Having to choose between two wonderful pies, the General Manager Hafid Elboji, solved my predicament by giving me BOTH! Serve throughout the meal by Vincent was flawless, anticipating our every need, and resolving it in anticipation. This is a high spot of Jersey Shore dining. I expect to be returning often!

All around everything was amazing. It was easy to book a reservation on open table . Did it an hour before we left to restaurant. Everybody was very polite and personable from the person seating us to our table to our waitress and all the Busing staff. The FOOD was delicious!! I thought the prices were going to be higher for the steaks, it was nyc prices. I did think the drinks were a bit $$ so 1 drink was enough unfortunately. Overall I would recommend.

We tried Brothers Daly for the first time last night and it was excellent! Our sever Jake mentioned he was new to serving but he did a great job. He was very knowledgeable about the menu, made good recommendations, and was attentive but not over bearing. We ordered a few drinks, a bunch of apps, and split an entree. The soda bread was some of the best ive had and was not dry like the grocery store version. My husband said the french onion soup was one of the best hes ever had and all of our cocktails were delicious. Definitely adding this place to our rotation
