The Britannia is Richmonds leading independent restaurant and bar. The Swan in Chiswick dates back to 1871 but we are positively new occupants having only arrived in 2002.We strive to keep the pub very much a pub while offering a Mediterranean-inspired menu that’s won many followers over the years.We have a cosy fire for the winter and a wonderful garden for the summer – it truly feels like a hidden gem and well worth a visit.Hopefully you can find everything you need to know here on the website but we’d much rather welcome you in person! This 17th Century building sits above a shallow slope to the Thames and enjoys both a sunny veranda balcony and a pretty paved garden right on the riverside.Apart from one or two extensions over the years the pub building remains relatively untouched, giving it a traditional pub feel.Festooned with flowers and plants outside in summer and warmed with log fires in the winter it’s been a very special local in Twickenham for many years.

    The Britannia never disappoints be it a business lunch, a weekend lunch with friends or dinner any night of the week - today it was a semi-business lunch - it is always welcoming, attentive and serves quality ingredients, expertly cooked accompanied by a wonderful wine list. This is why I keep coming back - it is one of my favourite all time places without a doubt!

    Our party of 6 had a really nice time! The service was very friendly, the sunday roasts were amazing (especially the beef roast), the atmosphere was the perfect warm & cosy pub atmosphere, and they helped us give our friend a proper birthday celebration by putting a candle on the dessert and singing happy birthday for them!

    We had another great dinner experience, this time off the special valentines menu. Unfortunately, where we attended on the last day of a three day menu, the main course of our choice was no longer available but, the chef made up an excellent alternative which we thoroughly enjoyed. We’ll be back again soon.

    We had a fab lunch. Despite it being a Rugby day and the place was packed, the service and the food were outstanding. All The staff are brilliant. And a special shout out to Matthew as always.
