Best Restaurants for Local Ingredients in Clinton

We had a lovely dinner at Mallard last night. The food was outstanding, very creative, very tasty. My wife started with an appetizer of Sea Island pea dip with duck-fat saltines that she loved, and I had Spanish ham with pickled watermelon rind that was terrific. For her main course, my wife had Pekin duck, and I had fried sweetbreads on a waffle with bacon marmelade, and foie gras added in. We both loved our main dishes, and are looking forward to eating the left-overs we brought home. The restaurant was noisy, but not in a way that made conversation difficult. Service was attentive if sometimes a bit slow, understandably, because the place was very busy. When I didn't care for the cocktail I had ordered, our server quickly offered me the possibility of choosing another, so i ended up satisfied. As we left, my wife told our server that she would tell her friends about Mallard. We will definitely be coming back!

It was a warm welcome by our server who made sure to follow through on everything. I was a vegan and our server suggested that the chef put something together for me. I could tell that our server wanted to make sure our dining experience was a pleasure. She also offered great pairings for both meals. The drinks from the bar were perfect and well balanced. I felt at ease and relaxed during the entire meal.

The food was incredible. We did the 3 course dinner and it was exceptional. Sarah was our server, she was knowledgeable, attentive and pleasant.

Our server Luis made a casual Saturday meal into a special occasion. With his knowledge of the kitchen operation, he was able to pace the courses perfectly without our even asking him. Key feature of his great service (and of all high level servers): he listened to us and delivered accordingly. Oh, and the pizza is very tasty too!

It was an office holiday luncheon. It took a few minutes for the waitress to stop by and take our order, but after that slight delay, everything was excellent. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. I plan to return.
