South Texas Ice House, "Texas Cuisine" Products from the Texas Gulf to the Texas Hill Country."The huge snake logo on the outside of an otherwise nondescript building -- created by Bob "Daddy-O" Wade, best known for the oversize boots that front San Antonio's North Star Mall -- is your first hint that this place might be a bit, well, different. Inside, cowboy kitsch, 1950s diner decor, and Mexican folk art mingle, as do workers from the nearby county offices, local movers and shakers, and anyone else looking for terrific food that, like the decor, defies easy categorization.Call it South Texas gourmet.     Dinner at Ranch 616 was nothing short of incredible! The food was absolutely amazing—every bite was packed with flavor. The service was excellent, with attentive and friendly staff making the experience even better. And the atmosphere? Over the top in the best way possible!     This place totally oozes Miami Vice, seasons 4 & 5. The staff was friendly and very Lorenz & Lorenz (on top of it). The soundtrack was PoolSuite-ish – in a good way. Our ad-libbed mocktails hit the spot, and the pizza was way better than it could have been for a place so focused on v.i.b.e.s. That kale salad was really good and deceptively generous – enough to share then take home extra (but we're old, so factor that in). The menu prices seemed a tad bloaty, but to be honest, the bill came in lower than expected. All in all, thumbs up. Come for the instagrammables; stay for the super sweet staff and good grub.
